There's a good chance global warming will be advanced as 2.4 owners burn their warrenties should a CARB setup for power in the 210-280 BHP range turn up. That's a fair amount of revenue missed by GM/GMPP, so back to my original statement. Can't hurt to ask.
That is true, it can't! But the reason there is such a market is because when most of the 2.4 owners (the ones that want more power anyway) ordered, there was no Redline. It will be a dying issue in the future. As we see right now, I think GM is getting the picture since 3/4 of the orders are Redline orders. They are popping out the Redline's like M&M's, which is different then their original estimate of 15,000 total and only 3,000 Redlines. They will only get clost to that because the Redlines came out late. Watch the ratio for 2008. Will probably be 75 out of a 100 will be Redlines. It is such a good value.

It is funny that people only talk about the Engine changes from the Base to the Redline. Do not forget the High Tech Traction Control system, standard LSD, Torsion bars, Tires, Sport Suspension, Standard Dual Exhaust, Fascia changes, Embroidered Floor Mats, Turbo Badging, Headlight Cosmetic Upgrade, Embroidered Seat Back. That's a lot for $3500. I think it is a bargain, when going into a new sale. And it is all factory waranteed. If I am not mistaken the Turbo should be covered under the 10 Year Drive train Warrantee.

These are things that will never happen aftermarket, especially at that price, with that coverage.

Me and ReedRed had this conversation at the car show Saturday. Anyone with a Base that really wants more power should trade up now. The resae is at it's peek. Sell on the private market, you will not take 1/3 the hit any other car will take, and order a 2008 model. No Brainer, if you are going to spend money trying to get more power aftermarket anyway. And where are you going to get 10 year coverage on a Turbo?

And for those who say they want more power than the Redline, you will never please them out of a factory(Except maybe an exotic, MAYBE).

Figure the Redline with Exhaust and intake that should not effect he warrantee. You bring it in around 300HP, 0-60 in 5.0-5.2. Damn the base Vette is getting a 4.8 sec 0-60. The Sky is a bang for the Buck. But like anything else, what it costs for a little more power kills the value of this car. And in my humble opinion, it is just not worth it!

SORRY RICK FOR THE TEMPORARY
