the problem is that for most people, trading a base for a RL will give them a net difference of well over 3500.00. In my case I estimated it would be between 7000.00 and 9000.00, even if I can sell it on the private market for close to what I paid for it. If I go the trade-in route, I'll lose quite a bit. The last dealer I spoke to offered me 25K for my base less than a month old. That's a 3K loss right off the bat not counting having to pay sales tax and fees again. I'll probably put a deposit down on a RL and see what we end up working out when it comes in, but for a lot of people, upgrading will cost them a lot more than the roughly 4K to install a turbo or some other high power aftermarket upgrade. I know the warranty is an issue and all the other things like traction control, but not everyone will find it worthwhile to take such a big financial hit when ultimately what they want is just more power.
