Welcome to the forum!!! The "swirls" we're talking about are circular or arced fine scratches. You'll see them on a lot of cars, especially dark colors, often from folks washing and/or drying their cars with the wrong materials and working in circular patterns. These light swirls you'll usually have to catch in bright sunlight at just the right angle to see. The full and complete "swirl-jobs" we're talking about here come from "detailers" using oribital buffers, usually incorrectly, which make so many deep circular scratches that it doesn't take a lot of special light or angles to notice. They just jump right out at you as if someone waxed your car with steel wool in circular patterns, which isn't far off from what's happening. Gary just posted a thread about being careful about cheap "detailers" describing something very similar.
