Okay, let me see if I can walk you through it....
If click on the User CP in the upper menu bar, you are taken to your User Control Panel. In the left hand column of choices, click on edit options.
If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, you will see a section called Miscellaneous Options. One of the choices is Advanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing.
It should alter the way the text appears when you are typing a message. Rather than being plain text enclosed in brackets to show the choices you make for the text, i.e. [COLOR=....], the text actually appears that color, font, etc.
