I always wear my hair down at the gas pumps.
In regards to you lady's meeting young men at the pump, they may be intimidated by women who are able to afford to purchase petroleum products. Secondarily, it is cheaper to buy an attractive young lady a beverage at a local watering hole than it is to buy her a gallon of gas to get her attention, plus the beverage can lead to impaired judgement on the part of said young lady.
