I just got mine in. I ordered the drop in lifetime filter - $69.00! I noticed a big difference in rain. The stock filter always hurt rain performance because it soaked up all the rain like a sponge which blocked airflow. With the K&N rain performance does not seem to be effected at all. The car seems to breath better. Overall, I'd say minimal overall power increase for drop in filter. Everything seems to be increased (bottom end and top end) slightly, but only to someone who has been driving the car for awhile. I think you would notice the difference more if you put it in a couple months after you purchased the car. My turbo does not seem to respond quite as quickly as it use to, but when I put the filter in, it seems to be much better. I wonder what this would translate into for a new engine?
Seat of the pants review? Kind of expensive for just a little increase from stock, but if you add in the fact that it is a lifetime filter, I would get it. It is also a good precursor to other engine mods because it opens up the breather on this engine while maintaining the stock cold-air condensing intake. Don't expect anything big if you are working with a stick engine.
Benefits: my engine temp does not fluctuate as much, and engine responsiveness has gone up slightly, turbo effectiveness seems to have gone up very slightly.
