I have the route figured -- looks good. I will print detailed directions and have copies available at the run and available for download, soon.
The starting point so far appears to be at Father Pierre Marquette Portage Park. If you go to Google Maps and find the Rt43 (Harlem Ave) Exit (north) from I-55 in satellite view you'll see a round park area to the west of Harlem (Great lot). This will accommodate many cars. One problem..... You have to cross Harlem (No signal) to get back northbound (we have to go north). So two solutions -- since it will be 10 am on a Sunday -- perhaps traffic won't be too bad -- OR to the right (east) there is a large trucking parking lot just before we get to the really nice park. So we have Nice park -- bad road access or: Wonderful traffic access sucky parking... Any comments?? Oh we turn from Harlem soon after the park....
Beyond that it is clear sailing -- for some of the Chicago section we will be on I-55 --- BUT we will head south on 53-66 through Joliet and environs, once at Wilmington we will see sections of original pavement and some new sights as well a old landmarks as we go further south...
Finally -- if you plan on joining us to Pontiac.... Let me know here so I can plan... TY!!
