not to take your expertise away...but i did the gauge swap also...u do not have to take apart the entire dash board

just take off the entire lower dash and the left window trim...u do not have to remove it all the way...the trim that is....the dash now has the flexibility to be lift up and remove the stock gauge and remove the harness pins...then just do the reverse...myself and coopcj7 both swapped out our base sky instrument clusters for the R/L...everything is plug and play...
