It happened on The Strip where the road is wide, two cool sharks standing side-by-side. A fuel-injected Stingray and a 413, revving up their engines and it sounds real mean. Tach it up, tach it up - buddy, gonna shut you down. Decline in numbers at an even rate, at the count of one we both accelarate. My Stingray is light, the slicks are starting to spin, but the 413's really diggin' in. Gotta be cool, now... Power-shift, here we go...

OOPS! Just singing a little ditty to myself... NO MORE BEACH BOYS. I'm gonna pop in my Jan & Dean CD.

I was crusin' in my Stingray late one night, when an XKE pulled up on the right. He rolled down the window of his shiny new Jag, and challenged me then and there to a drag. I said, "You're on, buddy. My wheels runnin' fine. Let's come of the line, now, at Sunset and Vine. But I'll do you one better if you got the nerve... Let's race all the way to... Deadman's Curve."

You can tell they didn't have public forums in 1964. Heck, they hardly had 'puters! If they had the Internet, the music would have sucked...

Well, the last thing I remember, Doc, is I got up the verve. And I posted a thread about "Deadman's Curve." The flaming I got, is sure was a fright. I found out for myself that everyone was right. But witty threads, a purpose they serve...
