The MX5 is also new. It does have the old cars performance heritage to surf on as well as the Spec Miata thing to get the aftermarket moving in a hurry. The Sky/Sol has some strong points however and are pretty much even up with the MX5 in many regards. I would have liked to see these cars be a little lighter but other than that they seem pretty solid.

I also like the stout short block that they are building the RL on. The direct injection will make it hard to shoehorn a lot more performance out in the short term but torque (which I love) and economy should not suck.

Now if they would just make a coupe version with an upper door sill that ran into the roof line like the old GT40s to aid in entry and exit and clean up the sight lines a bit they could put on some carbon body parts, put the battery in that little trunk, put some real dampers and brakes on the car and then take aim at cars like a the Cayman and leave the MX5 sucking fumes.
