Programming An Extra Key

My car is in storage (along with the owners manual) across town..

But hearing that you needed two keys to create a 3rd key and reading of how some folks have misplaced their sets over time. it thought it would be good to act while I have them both in hand.

I read an early 07 post of:
Requiring two keys.....

First – Insert one original key, turning to on (do not start – in all cases), wait 3 seconds & remove
Second – Insert 2nd original key, turning to on, wait 3 seconds & remove
Third – Insert newly cut key, wait 10 seconds and remove - Done

But when I took the keys to the local dealer to buy the blank and get it cut... First they told me I only needed one to program...

First – Insert original key, turn to on, remove
Second – insert newly cut key, turn to on, remove
all within 5 seconds time... and done??

Has anyone tried either procedure - or is neither the proper method?

thanks in advance,

joe

Is the thread "So you have a Sky and want to race SCCA-SOLO, now what?" still good to go? Is it still an accurate reflection of current SCCA proceedures?

I am ready to give SCCA a go and possibly, if I enjoy it enough, take it to the next level and start moding and tuning.

If that thread is current, feel free to delete this and maybe update the title of that thread with "current as of: xxx" disclaimer :)

Or... open that thread so changes can be discussed there?

Thanks! :D

Looking for anyone that is into SCCA in the Nor-Cal area (or even Reno-Fernley) that is interested in talking about the tracks/clubs and their offerings up this way and any experiences with them.

Plus, it's always easier with a friend around (who wants to be the loner?) :D

I am also somewhat interested in any reasonable driving schools. By reasonable I mean... When the price is $1000+ I think it better be REALLY GOOD or I would rather spend that money attending more events and learn on my own.

Thanks for any info/advice!

how do you guys remove BRAKE DUST?

I was just wondering what you guys do to remove BRAKE DUST especially at the front rims?

After I use power spray from the car wash, no matter how long I stay on one rim, the brake dust are still there. I still have to manually use a rag to wipe them off:banghead:

Bad Injectors

Add me to the list of bad injectors. My car started having hesitations at cold starts and I kept being told it was normal. I felt something was wrong but the techs kept telling me it was OK. Finally my car started showing misfire codes. The first dealership said the car was showing all 4 cylinders were misfiring and that was impossible because my car would be shaking while I was driving it, so all they did was reset the computer. 1 week later misfire codes again. I took it to a different dealership and they put in the new spark plugs. Ran better for 2 weeks and then misfire codes again. They thought it might be the coils but ended up being bad injectors. Now I have a rental for 3 days while the parts from engineering get here. Hopefully this will solve my problem.

I've had this sitting in my garage for some time now and after reading a couple threads on the Solstice Forums, I went ahead and did this today. I took the advise of someone who did theirs and followed suit.

You install the transmitter on the wall first (replacing your transmitter).
Then you tap the two wires on your high beams. It doesn't matter which ones you tap and mate with the receiver wires. Polarity is not an issue.

Once I did the tap I put the receiver in the light housing and put the cap back on. Now the entire mod is concealed and you would never know it was done unless you open the high beam cap and see.

The range is about the same as what I had before and it worked the first time I tried it. It is a very easy and clean mod to do and now I don't have to reach into my kappashere pouch to get my remote!

got a note from the local Saturn dealer - they have a 2006 Pontiac Solstice - Techno Gray - manual tranny - 13,000 miles for $15,500.

considering that what I really want is a 2009 Saturn Sky Red Line - Ruby Red - manual tranny - 0 miles - for about $32,000 - the Solstice is only half the car I want but it is half the price - and would likely depreciate less over 5 years than the Sky. (Techno Gray was at the top of my list before I saw Ruby Red).

On the other hand - my intent at the moment would be to keep the Sky for 20 to 30 years or more - (have had my GTO for about 24 years already and a Civic for 12) so likely a better investment to get what I want and keep it long term than not what I want and get tired or sick of it after a few years.

Hey Y'all,
I need a favor. Our son is coming home from the Army on Dec. 14th around 4:00 pm. That's a Sunday. We would really like to have a big group there to welcome him home for the Holidays. We have a motorcycle escort from the Patriot Gaurd Riders and a friend is asking the TN. Miata group to be there as well. I'd LOVE to tie up the airport traffic.
A group is meeting at KMart on Donelson just north of the airport.

                                                         Thanks
                                                        Twotoys
