Hi Guys/Gals,

Just titled/registered my '08 Redline with GMPP turbo upgrade and Cold air intake (both done by dealer - didn't know this was on the car so no idea how it will change it) and took it out for about 70 miles on the highway, etc today. I noticed some things I'm not used to from a regular car (granted, I've never had a sports car) and just thought I'd run them by everyone before running it into Saturn.

1. When I start the car and it has a deeper throatier noise and then kindof a "whoooshing" thing that I've read from this forum is what the CAI sounds like. After about 15 seconds or so the rumble settles down a bit as does the whooshing. I suppose this is normal (but I'm not used to the whoosh).

2. When I drive the car at very slow speeds (< 25 MPH) I hear the whooshing come and go.

3. This is the one that I'm a little worried about; so I gunned the car several times and it had some very nice pickup, but when I'm accelerating and suddenly let off the gas there's this noise like a quick sucking or something...it coincides exactly to when I let the pedal lift back up (so muchso that at first I actually thought it was the pedal just not oiled or something). It's very odd it sounds like like a cross between a gurgle and a rattle. It does this consistently if I let off the gas during moderate to heavy acceleration.

4. I also hear a similar noise to #3 every now and then at a random time.

Anyone else with the GMPP upgrade and/or CAI have these bizarre sounds and is it normal? I don't notice anything in the performance, just these noises. My friend who has a 400 HP GTO drove it and noticed all the same things and said his car does not make these noises (but it's also not a turbo nor does it have a CAI so he said maybe it is one or both). He said the noises would definitely make him wonder. Anybody know? I just bought the car (it does have full factory warranty remaining) so I guess I can run it into Saturn for free for a check? I'm feeling a little concerned though afraid that something is/was already wrong w/ my car... what do you guys think?

P.S -- I owe everyone pictures which I will work on getting. I'm LOVING this car! :D

So anyway - will I "lose" my GMPP tune when I reconnect, or does all of that just come right back?

I know - dumb question, but I the more I think about the more I can't stop thinking about it.

I have a set of black OZ 18x9 Ultraleggera wheels for sale. These were used only for autocross during the 2009 season. Things worth knowing-

1) Tire Rack still has silver 18x9s. They are $1156 + shipping for a set.
2) Tire Rack has only THREE blacks ones in the US and will not be restocking. They are not shown on TR's site, but they are scattered across the country at $348.
3) My wheels are undamaged. Except for the lug nut wells they are 99%+. Just from being handled they have a few scuffs on them that are easily buffing out and are thus not visible. The lug nut wells are scuffed from the 13/16" impact socket I was using for the larger aftermarket lug nuts I use. When I realized this was happening I started using a chrome socket which stopped the scuffing. Currently I am cleaning up the wells.
4) I am looking for $900 plus shipping (checked on this with UPS and about the max it cost is ~$100). USPS may be lower than that.
5) If these are going to be race wheels, the scuffing won't matter. If they have to be 100% for street or show, some matte black paint will bring them right back.
6) I will not split the set.
7) Pics are available if one want to see how good/bad they are.
8) There is some wiggle room if I don't have to do any touch up work.

Any questions, post them here, e-mail, or PM.

After the war the Americans captured the prototype Ho 2-29s along with the blueprints and used some of their technological advances to aid their own designs. But experts always doubted claims that the Horten could actually function as a stealth aircraft. Now using the blueprints and the only remaining prototype craft, Northrop-Grumman (the defense firm behind the B-2) built a full size replica of a Horten Ho 2-29 and proved it was in fact stealth!

The 142-foot wingspan bomber was submitted for approval in 1944, and it would have been able to fly from Berlin to NYC and back without refueling, thanks to the same blended wing design and six BMW 003A or eight Junker Jumo 004B turbojets. He thought the electromagnetic waves of radar would be absorbed, and in conjunction with the aircraft's sculpted surfaces the craft would be rendered almost invisible to radar detectors.
This was the same method eventually used by the U.S. in its first stealth aircraft in the early 1980s, the F-117A Nighthawk.
The plane was covered in radar absorbent paint with a high graphite content, which has a similar chemical make-up to charcoal.

Who is getting the most mileage out of the stock F1 tires?

I am at 26K and the tires still look great! Was wondering how many miles are you suppose to get out of these tires?

Not crazy about the tread design but they wear good. Will probably go to Nittos when these wear out.

OK, So I finally broke down and started to tackle cleaning up the screw heads on my driver side taillight because they were rusting (passenger side is beautiful:banghead:???) so I took them out and while I was at it decided to pull the taillight out completely to clean underneath it (ok, so I'm a perfectionist:rolleyes:) after fighting with the darn taillight I was able to pull it out without hurting anything but my fingers and flipped it over, there I found more rusted screws, so I took them out as well. This removed the black panel that is attached to the housing. After removing the black panel I saw 2 little blue dots, huh, breather filters for the taillight... then why the heck does the darn thing condensate at times:confused:. So I pulled one of them off. Low and behold the filters were clogged with the glue that was used to hold them on!!! Now im in the process of spraying the screws with rustoleum and awaiting reassembly... hopefully no more condensation issues:thumbs:
