Roadster/Small RWD Market/Other Vehicle General DiscussionDiscussion about owning, loving, lusting, or coveting roadsters and other small RWD'rs and "other" general vehicle discussion. Competitive vehicles, other "cool drives" and other discussion related to the ownership experience.
A couple of years back GM had the "RevItUp" series where you could go drive Cobalts and Corvettes on Autocross circuits, for competition and for fun. In some regards, those events put me on the path toward acquiring a sports car, and was at least partially responsible for my acquisition of the SKY. I guess you could say the investment paid off with regard to GM's investment in me.
Well, when GM started going bad, they understandably couldn't put on those types of shows and had to cancel the whole series last year. I don't know when they will start up again, if ever.
I just received an invitation in the mail from Hyundai to attend an event where I can "Turn the [Genesis] coupe loose on a custom-designed closed course". Talk about a unique way to grab market share. While the US makers are cutting back on advertising and events like this, it looks like the foreign makes are fulling in the slack. I've registered, and I'm going.
And for those who are interested, you don't need an invitation. Search on Hyundai Adrenaline Tour to see if there is one near you, and reserve yourself a spot.
And before anyone wonders if I'm giving up on my SKY...no way! On the other hand, I'm always looking at the competition. And I always have in mind the type of car I would buy at the moment if something happened that required a change. The ability to sling a car around will feed that search.

Buell holds Dealer Test Drive days where they have about 10 different bikes of all styles and have you follow an employee on about a 10 minutes drive on the back roads.
Depending on how many people who up, you can get alot of riding time in and figure out which model you like best.
It's a great way to get customers

I did this with BMW and it was fun. Got to drive all the new high end BMW's on the freeway and we got to take M3 out on the track with professional drivers to assist us. It was setup more like an AutoX though not a big oval.
Then we each recieved plaques to commemorate the event and showing we passed a skills test.
I am sure the Hyundai is the simular.

By the way Bogie, the guy that won RevItUp actually won a 'Vette. This 'Vette in fact! GJ is the nicest most down to earth person you would ever want to meet. I'm really glad he won. Check out his plate... (And yes that would be me in the pictures)

OK, when I say she talked him into it I really mean he kinda left it unattended while it warmed up...
...so we took some pics before she went out in the passenger seat.
For some reason, that lap was a bit more difficult to photograph than the ones Chris drove.
