Chevy HH and REDLINE power upgrade

...."Everything goes great with Caramel"

...Now that the Chevy HH crusier..is getting the SAME turbo engine from the REDLINE/GXP.............When will GM / SATURN....offer an engine / power INCREASE...for the SKY REDLINE ? ..and if so....how many ADDITIONAL PONIES.....( my hope is at least 325 - 350 total ponies....along with a 6 speed gear box ) ....and yes I'd be willing to pay $36,000 for that....

There's been talk bubbling around as rumours for some time, but the 2008 online order guide does not include a 2.0 LNF option. Only available in the current order guide are the 2.2 Ecotec L61 and the 2.4 Ecotec LE5.

I am assuming GM is doing thats so it can compete with the PT Cruiser Turbo. I don't think GM will be incresing the output of the redline engine, they are not doing it for the new 2008 Saab 9-3

Quote:
The US market will retain the 2.0T and Aero specifications. The 2.0T retains the 210hp output from the 07 model and the Aero will have a mild bump up to 255hp from the 2.8l V6.

I figured GM would at least bump the output for the new saab 9-3 to match what redline gets out of the same ecotec 2.0T engine but I guess not. I think everything will stay the same as far as engine outputs go.

(The link supports the RUMOR that the HHR is getting the REDLINE'S engine)

...The REDLINE...will soon NEED a POWER INCREASE...(I believe)...to compete with the Nissan 350...which received a recent power up-grade.....(there are additional sports coups / roadsters.....coming into the market with MORE POWER...than the current REDLINE / GXP.)............If / WHEN....gm does upgrade the REDLINE'S HP....I hope the offering is at the minium....325-350 HP.....

If they do use the same engine in the HHR SS it could easily lead to them not wanting to change the Sky/Solstice version. Better economy of scale on parts, etc. Personally I'm doubtful of anything more than small improvements and will be very surprised if they ever ship anything with even 300hp except maybe in the final year after a replacement platform was announced. 299 HP would still be pretty stout, it's not like the current RL is slow unless compared to some very strong performers like the C6 vette or something though.
