Dodge's MX-5 [Demon] will be at Geneva

Looks like the roadster segment of the market is about to get more crowded.

"American motor industry insiders have today confirmed that Dodge is working on a rear-wheel-driven two-seater sports car to rival Mazda's MX-5."

That is really funny, but not as funny as the looks of the Dodge brothers' latest.

Thank goodness for all the flavors. This one (for me - that's IMHO) is worse than the MX-5.

I say "the more the merrier"! Also, I have a vested interest in seeing this Dodge sports car produced.

I have long maintained that the key to the success of the Solstice and Sky are their gorgeous looks. This car would be a perfect illustration of how a capable little car without gorgeous looks does not sell as well.

I'll be watching how quickly these cars are discounted and if they are ever sold over MSRP. The blind Miata faithful maintain their delusion that the MX-5 is already heavily discounted in its 1st year of sales only because it is too similar to the looks of the earlier cars. This Dodge will prove my beliefs and kill, once and for all, the foolish belief that looks are completely subjective.

Bring it on!

This car will be a boon for college and high school kids, though. I see fairly heavy depreciation and a college kid will be able to get a decent driving little 2 or 3 year old Dodge sports car, for a song.

At least it beats this thing hands down...

Every cloud has a sliver lining. You can drive your Sky in Summer and get one of these homely Dodge cars for a winter beater/commuter and drive on snowy roads strewn de-icing salts completely guilt free.

Oh, yeah!!!!

I had to look at my Sky in my garage to get the image of that Halloween mask out of my mind! They've GOT to be kidding!

FUGLY !!!!!

The big, blocky look of the 300 and Charger just isn't working on this thing. That thing is SO sorry looking it could actually RAISE the resale value of Aztecs.

Ummm ... maybe not.

One More...

We also have to put the copperhead in here. A few years ago, I thought this was awesome......I'm betting it will look nothing like this, but I figured I'd throw it in the "pot". This car was supposed to have 220hp, a six cylinder, and a 0-60 in the 6.8 range....the RLs got 'em hands down....wit 32mpg hwy too!

The Copperhead is a whole different animal. Very Viper-like. MUCH nicer than that TURD mentioned early in this thread.

OMG......that really is FUGLY, as someone already mentioned.

If that concept has been around since 1999, then it's no wonder that the other new Dodge vehicles look just as ridiculous.

Why is it that Dodge seems to think the American population wants ugly looking cars? I mean, are they basing their researchon Aztec sales? Maybe they have their charts sideways like in that CareerBuilder.com/monkey commercial. GEEZ! Now I need to go back and look at the pics of the Opel GTs from the SoCal group's last run to get those images out of my head.
