How many AURA owners are here?

I know a couple of posters here have also bought a 2007 Saturn AURA. Can you identify yourself for me and tell me a little about the car? I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu LT sedan that I'm thinking of trading in for an AURA. I'd like to know whether you purchased the XE or XR model and how you like the car. Also, if you don't mind telling me, I'd like to know why you bought the XR vs. the XE, or vice-versa. Thanks in advance!

I know of two (2).

Ernest - Techno Gray XR LOADED, including Morocco Brown Leather and the Panoramic Roof.

SKYMan07 - Techno Gray XE, Preffered Package & Convenience Package.

My opinion is that both cars are wonderful. I'm leaning towards the XR but I would be happy with an XE...

Regards,

BA...

We purchased an XR becuase of the extra performance and luxory it afforded.
We are totally satisfied with our AURA. It exceeded our expectations. It rides, handles and has enough power to outperform my Serenity in accelaration. The larger motor, with the 6 spd tiptronic tranny, with the steering wheel paddle shift, makes it a alot of fun to drive. The Monsoon sound system and the Moroccan Brown leather interior makes for a very pleasing interior. Climate control, accent interior lighting, and so many "little" touches makes this a very great car at a great price. The remote start and Panoramic roof are some more of it's attributes!!

Ernest, any problems with your panoramic sunroof? I know of a G6 sedan owner with that option and he's had nothing but problems with it. I don't think I'd get that option anyway, as it deletes the universal remote option - which I use for my two garage doors - and find to be a more useful feature (if I want open air driving, I'll take the SKY!).

No problems with our roof whatsoever, and you couldn't get it anyway as it has been taken away as an option at this time. Time will tell I guess, but I am happy with it. Makes my AURA a little unique though. I can't say enough about the AURA XR, it is fully loaded and came in at 27K, has more options than my sister-in-law's Caddy CTS, which she paid more for with less options, and it looks purtier to, yup!!!! Build quality is excellent

My W wants to get an Aura, which is kinda shocking since she doesn't like Saturn. We went by the dealership and they said the panoramic roof is on restriction now due to trying to fix issues with it fluttering.

I am getting a midnight blue XE tomorrow! It will not have leather or a roof but will have every other option. I get 500 off because I am former military and a further 750 loyalty bonus because I already own a Saturn, plus I have almost 500 in GM points. Not only that but I get it for $500 over invioce AND I don't pay taxes HA HA HA...I think my payments are like 5 bucks a month or something...I am pretty excited about it as my Sky is hibernating right now.

Congrats on the XE purchase. You sure do have a lot of discounts available to you! Thanks to my wife's employer, we are entitled to GM Supplier pricing and I know the XR we drove over the weekend, MSRP is $25,020 and the GM Supplier price is approximately $24,200 (so there's at least $800 in savings). I too get the $750 owners loyalty b/c of my SKY, but I'm not military so no $500 discount and I have the GM Platinum Card, which means that I can't use any of the $1200 points (earnings) I have But I think if the trade appraisal is good on my '04 Malibu, I'll be driving an AURA soon I like the Midnight Blue XR we drove, but the wife isn't thrilled with the all-black cloth interior with silver trim. She likes the XE because she wants the tan cloth with woodgrain interior. So depending on what my salesman locates out there and what my car is worth as a trade, I might end up with a XE or XR!

3.6 V6 - required fuel?

Does the XR's 3.6 V6 require premium, or can it run on regular??? That's one question I haven't bothered asking or researching!

It can run on regular, but premium is recommended, it is a VVT also like the SKY. Good performance motor, I am real happy with it power!!! Out accelerates Serenity.

So my midnight blue XE is here and we drove it last night but I wish it had black cloth interior. I really do not like the grey...it looks super cheap. For $4500 more I can get a XR with black leather but I am not sure I want to do that...decisions decisions...I know the wife would say settle with the grey cloth instead of spending the extra money.

Oh well...it is for her anyways...the Sky is my baby...she'll just need to drive me around all winter. HA HA HA

I test drove an AURA when I went to check up on my SKY. I knew my Mothers car was coming to the end of its' road days and I put a deposit on a base model XE for her. It is supposed to be delivered the same day as my SKY sometime in the last week of December.

The XE it is...beautiful car.

You know the accent lights in the roof and door handles? I am going to change those to blue LEDs..I think it will look great in the Midnight Blue car. I am also gonna do a Blue underglow and big Chrome rims when money allows. The windows are getting limo tint all the way around next monday.

Twins!

Well CdnSkyGuy, it looks like I'm getting a somewhat twin of your car. I went to the dealership tonight and had my trade appraised (not as much as I wanted, but better than what I initially expected) and a lease deal put together on a 2007 AURA XE in Midnight Blue with Tan cloth interior (the wife had to have the tan with woodgrain trim ). They have to trade with another dealer, but it has the Convenience and Preferred Packages, XM Radio, and 17" Aluminum Wheel options (I'm not sure if it has more equipment until they confirm the dealer will trade). I'll know more tomorrow or Friday.

AURA's are built in Kansas City, along side GS-6's and Imapala's. Same plant! They share the Epsilon platform with them>

I have a small styling complaint...no projector beam headlamps!!! The L series had them...why wouldn't they carry that over to the new model?

I can't put HIDs in this one like I did my Sky. Well you can, but they don't look nearly as good if not in a projector housing.

Finally!

My dealer was able to locate an XE equipped almost how I wanted it and the dealer that had it was willing to trade (which they did yesterday). So at 3:00 PM today I'm taking my 2004 Malibu LT sedan on it's last journey as I trade it in for a new 2007 AURA XE!!! I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

I got it!

Took delivery last evening of a 2007 Saturn AURA XE in Midnight Blue with Tan Cloth. It has the Convenience Package, Preferred Package, Enhanced Convenience Package, and the upgraded 17" Chromed five-spoked Wheelcovers. Since they got this from another dealership in Maryland, there was a tan pinstripe and VIN Etching already on the car, but since my salesman knew I didn't want any of that, I wasn't charged for it!

And to make things better, the lease price they quoted me Wednesday night turned out to be $16 less per month! So with the GM Supplier Discount, $750 Saturn Oweners Loyalty, $500 GM Cash, and my trade-in, I drove away with a really attractive lease! Plus no money out of pocket meant I took advantage of all these incentives and drove away not worrying how I was going to pay for Thanksgiving & my upcoming Christmas shopping!!!!

Since it was dark when I left the dealership, I wasn't able to get any good pictures, so I'll get some today before we venture out on our errands. Now there's two 2007 Saturns in my driveway, and the wife already stated that when our '05 Envoy lease is up, she wants to get the Outlook! I'll tie you Ernest, unless you keep adding more before spirng/summer of 2008!!

CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW AURA!!!!! As drive her you will see the subtle "extras" that have been added to make this a very reasonable priced car. There are so many nice touches to numerous to mention but you will notice them and realize like myself that Saturn really put forth a great effort in this design. As for Saturn puchases, you are a worthy adversary my friend
