New Dodge challenger, -First One in N.J.

I go to a car meet every friday night and as i pulled in the lot this is what i saw, a 2008 Challenger, the first one in New Jersey (so the owner says), he paid over sticker price of about 65K....He is buying a second one and keeping this on in the garage, there are only 6400 of these cars available, it has a 6.1 Hemi, very nice, but i just dont buy chrysler products anymore.......also, this "thing" classified as a motor cycle, pulled in the lot at the end of the meet....SteveSky67

Some people have more money than sense. The 2009 model will have a six-speed, LSD and you will be able to get it at MSRP or below. The Challenger is nothing more than a two-door Charger. It should have been lighter and with a 500hp 6.4L.

I absolutely wouldn't get it without the LSD, too much money/work involved in adding one when it should be factory in the first place. Would love to see a 6.4L version (and then add a super ), but it does make pretty good power with the 6.1 and I'm sure we'll see N/A versions reaching 500HP++ with lots of aftermarket work anyway.

I believe the SRT8s are all sold or committed to be sold. And 15K over retail isn't out of the ordinary on a limited production run like this.

Some GT500KRs are running $50K over sticker.

VIN 1 of the ZR1 auctioned off for $1 million ($900K over sticker). Rank and file ZR1 will probably run $50K+ over sticker.

When you have $100K to spend on an automobile, an additional $150K probably isn't a big deal.

Not so, between 15-20% are going to be available at dealers on lots. Your probably going to pay $10-$20k over MSRP. (I tried to get one instead of the Sky)

heres one I saw 4th july weekend... in North Carolina.

It was parked in front of Evernham building (Nascar team). Considering Dodge is one of their big sponsors, you think that had anything to do with this car making its way here?

I am in south jersey... my wife says she sees one almost every morning driving to work. guy drives up route 130 and cross the Betsy Ross Bridge into pennsy.
Rt 130 is a rough road... surprising someone is daily driving it on that road.

Although... knowing my wifes knowledge of cars it could be a Prius she is seeing.

I can admire Challengers without lusting after them. On the other hand, I do lust after the M Roadster and the SLK55 AMG.

I like the looks of the Camaro maybe just a bit more, but I'd take the Challenger on power alone. If/When the Z28 comes out I think I'd lean back to the Camaro.

did you say Charger?

Reminds me of the 1970s Charger that my wife drove when I first met her.

The Camaro Z28 will be lighter than the Challenger and have 125 more hp.
