Roadster/Small RWD Market/Other Vehicle General DiscussionDiscussion about owning, loving, lusting, or coveting roadsters and other small RWD'rs and "other" general vehicle discussion. Competitive vehicles, other "cool drives" and other discussion related to the ownership experience.
When all the Test Drive Editors came out in 2006 and complained that there is no storage room in the trunk...everyone understood that it was a roadster..it is not supposed to have any..the SKY is not the family car. This car was never meant to be a daily driver.
As members begin selling their cars and they post reasons for selling...they use the same excuse...PLEASE....do not give that excuse. Nobody wants to listen to it.
Say Good Bye with dignity.

True, if you own a car for a few years and only then decide that what should have been apparent with the first test drive is a crippling flaw that means you'd never want to own the car, people are going to think you are a pretty slow study.....

I've been able to fit quite a bit in my sky, with the use of creative packing techniques I packed a good portion of my wardrobe, some tools, my uniforms, my computer and all 3 monitors. And few other things. Its just how you pack it.

I knew the lack of storage when I bought it a few months ago, but like you said Mike - it's a roadster. You have to know how to load it efficiently. Sunday, we took a complete cooked Christmas dinner to my sister's place. Of course we couldn't put the top down even if we wanted to. I bought a motorcycle trailer to pull behind mine for long distance trips where we'll want to put the top down and won't have room for the things my wife wants to take when traveling.
This car was bought for one purpose...and believe me it was not because of the quality of build...simply it was the WOW factor...this car was bought because it was DESIGNED like no other car. PURE ART WORK.

Who says??? You? Mine has been a daily driver, and still is since its birth...
It's also not the only "working" sky as I call it..
Not everybody bought it just to be an ornament, or weekend toy, IMHO, these cars were designed to be driven everyday, not parked 5 months out of the year...

Daily Driver? I don't think so...listen to Jill...go to 4:40 on the tape and listen. Just so my nay sayers do not recall...this thread was about reasons for selling your SKY....REMEMBER?
I wish I'd have taken pictures, but I fit 2 FULL (bursting at the seams style) Sea Bags (Military Duffel) worth, a small 16" Duffel, laptop bag, backpack, ALL of my military flight gear (helmet, g-suit, parachute harness, survival vest, 3 kneeboards, 2 flight pub bags, and a helmet bag) and an empty hockey bag mostly loose packed in the trunk when I half (I was supposed to be on deployment in November so the wife stayed in Florida) moved from the Florida panhandle to Washington State back in September. I'd say it was easily 250lbs of stuff. I even had enough room in the cabin to enjoy the mountain twisties in Montana, Idaho, and Washingon.
