They REALLY should've made it a Sky... no appologies...the Sky is just so far superior as far as styling. To each there own I suppose..

Yeah, I saw that toy a couple of months ago on another site, but I wasn't too impressed with the quality of it.
What I would like is for someone to make us a functioning hardtop like the one they have for the movie. (By functioning I mean the being able to get into the trunk).

I considered fabricating a top like that myself (for all of about ten minutes before I remembered how inept I am at sheet metal fabrication).
About the only way I could tell to make a top that replicates the lines of the soft top and still have the trunk operate would be to make it like the top on the Noble.

Pretty cool, really should have gone with the SKY though. I guess they didn't want a Transformer that would steal the attention away from the rest of the robots.

hahaha
Saw this thread and had immediate visions of an "authentic" solstice toy, complete with leaking differential! ![]() And sorry guys, but I think the Solstice follows in the footsteps of the Porsche 935 (the original Transformer Jazz) better than the Sky ever could. It is just more similar to the rounded curves that the Porsche has. FYI, I saw a trailer for the Transformer Movie tonight during 24. Mostly footage of the Camaro though. Didn't catch any glimpes of the Solstice. |

About twice as popular. They really should've used a Miata- they're ten billion times more fun!

I disagree. I haven't seen anything that shows that the Solstice is more popular. But Pontiac has spent a fortune pimping out their product. Tons of TV ads; the "Set Up" show on Speed Channel; and a spot in the Transformer movie. Just to name a few. It also hasn't worked. See the thread on the MSN most popular car list - Sky #3......Solstice #7.
IMO IMO IMO

FYI, I haven't seen "tons" of TV ads for the Solstice. In fact I haven't seen a single Solstice specific ad at all. I've seen GM ads or Pontiac ads where the Solstice is one of several vehicles featured, but as a halo vehicle for the brand I don't find that particularly excessive. I don't know enough about the Speed Channel show to comment one way or the other. And as far as the Transformer movie goes, they are featuring a fleet of GM vehicles, to include a Hummer, a Chevy Camaro and a GMC Truck. It seems like Saturn is one of the only GM brands not worthy of celebrity status... Just my opinion, of course. ![]() |

Now if you put Hugh Jackman in a Solstice (or a Sky), that would be another story all together... : |
