Porsche has the best website

As a connoisseur of fine automobiles, I spend a good bit of time researching the field. I was looking at Porsche the other day and it dawned on me they have the best site on the net in terms of layout, response, ease of use, navigability, and information provided.

Agreed. I noticed that as well. I visited it again last night after looking over a 911 Turbo at the car show. It had 325/25/20 tires in the rear on Porsche wheels and I was curious about the width of the wheel. I had no idea that a 911 had rear seats until last night.

If you like the web site, I am sure you will also enjoy the car. Those Germans know how to engineer.

I don't think so Tim. They are nice to admire, but there isn't much value there for me. It would take a $94K 911 Carrera S Cabriolet for a Porsche convertible to keep up with my little Sky from 0-60.

If I am going to get on the other side of $50K, I'm buying a Corvette. If I win the lottery, I might be willing to park a GT2 next to my Viper.

That is pretty nice.

It reminds me of the 'feel' of the Veyron selector:

(don't mind the resizer)
Bugatti Veyron

it actually really helped me figure out the colors i want for my interior

The Porsche value is in a different field than the SKY, and stretches across a much wider band. And it appeals to a different buyer, with different wants, needs, and perceptions. In terms of overall engineering, Porsche trounces the SKY. I don't care what model you choose, if you delve into the engineering....Porsche will come out ahead. If you carve out the niche the SKY was designed to fill, then the SKY will win out in that niche, to include the specific engineering aspects of the niche.

As for the GT2 and the Viper, they might play track rings around a SKY, but as a daily driver they both suck. In terms of pure driving enjoyment (track plus street)...they suck. In terms of cost...they suck. Insurance...really suck. Repairs...suck. Comfort...suck. They are kings of power and performance that belong in a zoo (aka...track day) and should only venture into the regular world on their way to and from the zoo. The only reason I would pick either over a SKY is to sell 'em and then buy a SKY or two, or three, or four.

That said, a basic 911 S is a fine animal...excellent engineering. I just don't like the look, albeit they do look nice. They don't call my name. When you drive a SKY, regular people look at it and go "Wow....cool car"! Car people look at it and go "Wow, cool car"! When you drive a Porsche, regular people look at it and go "Hmmm.. a beetle". Car people look at it and go "Wow, Porsche". The basic 911 has humble looks and kick ass performance. The SKY has kick ass looks and humble performance (compared to the 911).

I agree with most everything you say here. Again, after the lottery win it will be a difficult decision on what to drive today. I have a car reach that far exceeds my grasp.

I haven't checked out Porsche's sight, but I'm visually impressed with this one from Alfa Romeo.

Alfa Romeo 159 | Vivez l’expérience 159

Enjoy. PS, it's very graphics heavy so it may take a bit to download.
