This is what I would call the first official confirmation of it.
Expect the same fuel economy as the Solstice then unless the front and rear fascia differences are enough to give some benefit.

I said a while ago in a thread that they would probably put the same HP and Torque into the Saturn Sky as they would the Pontiac Solstice, because they were supposed to be pretty much the same car inside. The reason I believed this was because the Solstice information was released as 170hp / 162 torque early on in the game as well, and changed higher, closer to the Production date of the car. I couldn't imagine having a lower HP & Torque Sky than the Solstice. SLADE ![]() Lucky bastard, you got your Kappa. They both Rock |

Actually the Solstice's specs were originally 170/170 untill modified to 177/166.
In general with most rumors I'm going to stick with the known official information unless there are numerours sources pointing to something different, or if I've heard personally from a reliable source that it's otherwise. This seems to be a fairly reliable source so I'm willing to believe this. In a way a lower powered Sky would have kinda fit in with it's image if it provided for better fuel economy. The Sky is more about luxury then performance like the Solstice is.

The sky is supposed to be luxury and the solstice performance but what are the known or suspected differences with performance (not luxury, I know about the interior differences) that make them different?
What I understood up to now was a 7hp difference and a rumored softer suspension on the sky but now with the HP difference gone whats left? is the softer suspension still the belief or are there other differences I haven't heard about? |

can the dampers be adjusted to be more like the performance of the solstice? or would that require buying aftermarket parts?
and correct me if I'm wrong but if the sky is tuned differently, I'm going to guess its going to be tuned in the direction of smoother ride. Is that the same as giving it a "softer" ride/suspension? |

cool. thanks. If thats the only performance difference, that really isn't much. I would think that any after market performance parts that were made for the solstice would also work on the sky... engine parts, exhaust, suspension... etc. if not then production of those parts would be right around the corner as they would have to be very similiar.

I think it's a pretty safe assumption that any suspension part that fits into the Solstice will fit into the Sky. I haven't heard of (and probably wouldn't believe) any info that indicates any differences whatsoever between the two cars' chassis. I'd bet that any suspension part that comes with the Solstice will fit the Sky. The only things that would be candidates for change to get a softer ride would be 1) the tires, 2) the springs, 3) the shocks, or dampers, or , possibly rubber insulators that are softer. The alignment specs might also differ somewhat - toe-in, castor, camber. I suppose it's conceivable the steering ratios might differ, but I'd rather doubt that. |

The Sky layout is very similiar to the Solstice but not exactly the same. When an engineer gets to tune a suspension for a car he tries various parts and settings. The dampers used on the Sky are tuned slightly different from the Solstice. Things just get better over time and we will all see enhancements in future releases of both the Solstice and Sky cars.
If I had to guess, the hardtop version will have a completely re-tuned suspension with 17" or even 16" tires to give it a lower center of gravity for racing. |
