Sky Sportwagon

And though EDAG's area was bereft of a physical Sky demonstrator, the display placard wrapped on one of the hall's ubiquitous concrete pillars showed a more compelling application of the company's Kappa-Kap for General Motor's winning little platform. As illustrated here, the 'Sky Sportwagon' exhibits a significantly more attractive profile, with the plunging rearward pillar dovetailing agreeably with the taillamps and bumper cap.....

That doesn't show me "a significantly more attractive profile"......to me, the Roadster is much more attractive. Just my opinion.

If The sky had a hardtop, I'd like it to be like the Z4 top. or Viper

What is EDAG thinking? Egads!

I didn't like the top EDAG did for the Solstice and I don't like this one either. It just kills the sporty styling of the car. I don't want a SKY hardtop that invites me to carry a bathtub home from Home Depot! To me, a hard top for the SKY should be of a 'fastback' style similar to a mid 60's Vette, a Cobra Daytona Coupe or even a late 70's Vette hard top with the large lift up glass hatch. The hard top for the SKY should carry over the buttress panel shape from the SKY convertable to the hard tops B pillars to retain the cars exciting side profile.

Split-window coupe, stylized for the SKY's lines.

I think the biggest problem with any hardtop is going to be the unusual profile of the side windows - coming down so low in the front by the windshield. It looks okay with a soft top, but put a hard top on that and you get a funky droppy-lookin' front.

Notice that most of the pics of the hardtops - this one included - solve the problem by going with totally different side windows. If the hard top is non-removable then this isn't a problem. But if you plan on popping it off to go with the factory ragtop underneath, I am guessing that you won't want to swap out the side windows...

Use both tops..........

My interest in a removable hard top for the SKY is to have the option of using BOTH tops. Hard top on for cold/wet/rainy early spring and late fall then take it off to use the convertable top for the warm part of the year. So the hard top needs to mount easily yet securely.

Whatever happened to the Sol coupe concept? That was a nice solution to the b-pillar question. It would be nice seeing a sky coupe. It could have a corvette style removable, transparent roof (targa style). This is a beautiful car as a convertible, I have no doubt that it can be an awesome coupe.

Wow - that is terrible!
Why would I buy a beautiful roadster and to turn it into an 80s honda civic hatchback?

Not my cup of tea, although it would be more bearable without the hatchback portion.

If my choice is Sky with it, or without it, I would choose without.
If my choice is Sky with it, or my SUV, I would choose Sky with it.

It is, in my eyes, a nicely done European-style GT conversion, and it is the only style hardtop I would consider for the Sky.

Here's more info on the hardtop. It's made by EDAG, a German outfit. They are currently taking orders for the Solstice and have a model being developed for the Sky.

Here's the discussion thread from the Solstice Forum:

http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=23980

Personally, I think the Sky looks much better without it. But if anyone needs a hardtop they might want to look at it.

If you don't want to plow through the discussion at the Solstice Forum, I've attached a pdf file with EDAG's brochure. Note the picture of the Sky at the bottom of the second page.

It may not be for everyone, but I've actually SAT IN THE SOLSTICE prototype with the roof in place.

Click Here for my review of the product.

[quote=jdigiant;123377]Split-window coupe, stylized for the SKY's lines.

Just design it so my Sky will look like a modernized version of a '63 Vette with split window in the back...that I would consider buying.

This top makes my Sky look lke a Mazda 3.

Thanks, But no thanks. This would make the Sky look like to many other cars out there right now.
