Interesting enough...both the complaints they have of the car, lack of power and lack of storage, apply equally to the Sky.
Did they not mention the Sky because no one would know what it was? Or does the Sky's styling more easily overcome the same deficiencies?

Oatmeal power is solved with the GXP or is that not enough for them? Space well, you know what you have when you buy it. I personally don't need more space.

Hmmm ... a friend of mine has a Miata & her storage space sucks, too!!!
But that is a normal & expected feature of any small 2-seat ragtop. ![]()

I have to agree about the PT Cruiser and Scion...but that's about it. Then again, the PT Cruiser was revolutionary in my opinion...just too many on the road.
And to reiterate a post above, The Mustang...please give me a break, too... As for the Solstice...I don't care if it has a nuclear power plant or a rubber-band under the hood...the thing looks cool everytime I see one on the road. It is a very unique looking car...even more unique than the Sky (if I dare say so) but not cheesey-unique like the Scion. Not to mention, this "writer" probably doesn't even know the GXP exists.

We're used to it. Doesn't change a thing. I went to a SCCA rally this weekend with 36 cars ranging from Austin Healeys to Maseratis and I got comments from everyone on how they liked the car. Journalists always like to be the first to praise, and the first to backlash. Buy what you love and ignore them. ![]() |

Tom Wilson is an idiot!
Who elected him as car guru! Any bets on who is slipping him money or cars under the table. All the cars listed have poor trunk space, but if you go with the Porsche you get to pay anywhere from $71,000 to $122,000. For that money I would buy the solstice and a full size van for trunk space. Hmm, what trunk space does his car have? Trunk space might be the only thing he has, because there seems to be very little under his hood.![]()

I'm a Ford man, but the Sky is light years ahead of the Thunderbird in every aspect. The Thunderbird is HIDEOUS! As soon as I sell my F250 I'm going to order my Sky.

give them time though the SKY/Solstice is only in it's first generation and it's already as fast as a Porsche in the redline version. The Miata is in it's Third generation. In the first it only had 120Hp and went 0-60 in 9.4s As long as GM and owners support the car it will gain the respect it deserves.

Those of us old enough to remember the Chevrolet Corvair will recall the Ralph Nader book that basically stopped production of the little car. True, there was also a safety issue, but the Corvair is now one of the most sought after cars among classic car junkies.
Hang tight Kappa car owners, one persons opinion don't amount to much in the long run!

Somewhere on this Forum I saw a comparison of trunk space between Kappa and Miata and one other sports car. The Miata actually had less useable space. But the Miata's space is more user friendly because the floor is flat with no gas tank intrusion.

this guy doesnt live in so cal.
all i know is, i have had my black sky for almost 2 years now. i work in and near hollywood, and beverly hills, in a place where 250k bentlys are a dime a dozen, and i still get way too much attention to the sky. and because there are so few out here, i get the best parking by the valets all the time....
it still cracks me up that i am driving a $26k car, that makes the snobs look.

I think it is all personal opinion and perception ..... one may LOVE a certain car.. and another may think it is the ugliest thing around..... Oh well..... Opinions are... Ok... when asked for. SkyBaby

That's not exactly true. Once the market gets really saturated, the car loses a bit of it's uniqueness and pizazz! With the loss of the F-Body, many of those buyers that wanted a F-Body had to settle for the only muscle car still on the road. Thus, the need was there and Ford cranked those puppies out like there was no tomorrow. Hence, over-saturation! Cripe, I work for a small company that has only 120 employees and there are two of those in our lot (new body style). With the new Challenger and 2009 Camaro coming back out, sales of the Mustang will plummet once again. Unfortunately, the newness has already worn out and Ford has already rode that one into the sunset....

author 'Tom Wilson' went from hero-to-zero faster than junior-high socialites! That sums up his life story pretty much in my opinion.
This review is his take on the car industry. As we move through life our car space needs change ... surprise? Some of these reviewers, I swear, never sat in or drove a Kappa car. From various magazines we all have read, they are cut-paste stories that make a big deal out of the trunk. Most of us know that by packing correctly, we can get an awful lot of 'stuff' into that space. However, we knew that before buying this car that the trunk was small .. so what is the surprise? If it don't fit ..either I don't need it or ship it!
