Daewoo G2X Roadster

http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=15845

Looks like we lose some MORE volume to limited production of a KOREAN roadster...

OMG. If I ever see a Daewoo "SKY" driving around here, i'm trading her in. Thing is though, a few years ago there was a Daewoo car dealer near where I live. It's not there anymore....do they not sell in the US anymore? Please say they dont, please!

No they don't and if you go to the link they clearly state it will be sold in Korea only!

I don't know guys...

Alot of people are here that never looked at a Saturn before in their life...

Some feel that having a Saturn badge on the this Sky is a joke...

It is going to do the same thing for Daewoo that it's doing for Saturn, I don't see it as a a completely bad thing.

Interesting observation about the Daewoo promotional photos: for this release they have used the Silver Graphite as opposed to the Silver Pearl in their marketing campaign.

Perhaps a change in culture, perhaps just to set a apart from the American design, perhaps response to feedback from buyers... who knows?

I agree completely... I wouldn't be looking at a Saturn except for the Sky (I wouldn't even be looking at the Sky except for the Red Line!)
As long as the Daewoo is not sold here, who cares? They say GM is also going to make a Holden version for Australia!

Why? They're all Kappa cars, same powertrain, made at the same factory... shouldn't be any more of an embarassment to Sky owners having a Daewoo badged version sold only in Korea than to a Solstice owner.

I think Sky owners should take some satisfaction knowing that all other worldwide versions planned (Opel, Daewoo, Holden) are all based on our Sky body... shows the world knows it is a much more attractive exterior than the Solstice !!

So I suppose if you believe, like Blue Sky surmised, that we should now go buy a GXP perhaps because it will be more "exclusive", then go right ahead... we always knew the Solstice would be more "exclusive"... no where near the number of buyers in North America or worldwide would prefer that body style. People worldwide generally are not deturred from buying a Miata simply because there are tons of them on the road. And again, the Opel, Daewoo & Holden won't be sold here.

The biggest impact on Sky and RL buyers (and Sol & GXP buyers!) will be the shrinking pot of cars out of that one factory available for purchase in North America. It will make an already bad situation worse. I don't believe there is any plans or possibility to increase production at that plant... they are running 24/7. So plan on even longer waits to get one.

I dont understand how thats significant to resale value, but I don't know much about resale and its relation to foreign car marques for that matter.

Though I don't think I bought my car because I wanted it to be worth something in 10 years -- I strangely made a purchase for something I'd have fun with that looks wicked on the road. Oh well... silly me.

I think domestically meaning "domestically in Korea".

As far as a "Holden" version, I'd say that's a stupid idea, since the platform a) doesn't support a right hand drive, and b) is alreadly capacity constrained and cannot afford to lose anymore available US domestic volume.

The car will be only sold on Korea as K-man said.

I have to laugh when people come into the dealership and try to trade in a Daewoo...

The black book has the value as $0.

Yep... throw away greater quantities of your money on an overpriced ugly car like the Z-4... just so you can long for the day you can get rid of it and get some resale $ out of it..LOL

I can see now how you picked your UserID

Speaking of which... what ever happened to the Dodge Neon/Plymouth Neon plan -- was that considered a failure? I feel like they sold well under both marques.

But yeah, the Sky is too distinguishable from other cars to sell the same thing under two brands in the same country.

Perhaps they don't have enough ink to do full color pictures.
