Looks like a lot of fun. Although I'm not sure it's worth the $52,000 price tag. Especially when you can get a Sky for half the cost!

And on a track? Bye bye Z06. The Atom with only 300hp will stomp on the Z06 on the track. It is made FOR the track. Look at the thing. Besides the fact that the Atom2 (american version) has the LSJ Supercharged 2.0L which I think it awesome, the thing is an overgrown go-kart (which is almost demeaning to say being all the engineering that went into it). Check out this little clip (i think about 9 mins) from Top Gear when they were testing the Atom1, the first British version.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaWoo82zNUA

That should give you some idea of the performance of the car, even at 300hp or less.

Whoa, IMPRESSIVE is all I gotta say after veiwing that video. I can't get over the contortions in his face wow!! You have changed my mind on what I think of that little monster --perhaps I would buy one-- over Z06 Now the only problem is, no radio, no windscreen-- NO A/C & down here that would suck--I would have to get it with the big brake package--Still 52K for a supped up go-cart is rather steep. ALSO, I must say, I would take it over a 2-wheel ricer any day--Now if I only had 52K laying about I would put an order in right NOW!!

There was one in the garages during the Indy 500 weekend (a friend of mine drove in the IndyPro race that weekend and got me in). Everyone else was checking out the 50 or so Ford GTs, I was digging the Atom.

Kawasaki ZX-14 ... top speed 186 mph, 0-60 in 2.5 secs., $12k.

If you want open cockpit, wind in your face, and balls to the wall, why waste $52k on an oversized, overpriced go-kart?

You can add full racing leathers and track time for another $1500 or so ...

No-Thanks on the 2-wheel crouch rocket. Had a Kawa down here for years, also was almost killed 7 times on a 2-wheeler. People "just don't see you". The 3 memorable ones were, the drunk driver and his drunk wife w/ Ohio plates that cut me off, upon impact, I did a 360 over the handle bars ended up looking at the sky on my back in the middle of the street (almost got away tho, locked up the bike and almost rode around him, just clipped the drunks left rear corner of his piece of junk car)... 2nd was a Cowboy in Ford pick-up, also cut me off, I swerved heading into a canal--On that one the guard rail stopped me, he at least stopped came over apologized and just stated "he didn't see me".. The last one was some bimbo chick in a Camaro, stepping on the brakes for no reason on the left lane on the expressway, I was doing 75MPH on that one, (yea yea, speeding, I was late for work) On that one when I locked it up, my heart almost came out of my chest, thought I bought it.. So, yea no more 2-wheelers for me, thats out of my system, to many deaths happen down here in this heavy traffic, but that Atom, next best thing IMO--

Heck it's basically a bike on 4 wheels anyway!

I would rock one for sure, but I could never go with that and not own a bike, especially now.

Great vehicle though, on my list of those to drive before I die.

Yeah, but as far as versatility, the Z06 would stomp the atom. Watch out for that mud puddle! Don't forget your sunscreen! Hey, how do I ge that bug off my windscreen? Does anyone know why there is snow in my cabin? Bundle up.....don't even mention the ice..... When you go on that mountain jount, where do you put all the trinkets your girlfriend wants to buy? Don't wear anything nice. I would still rather spend that kind of money on something with all bit more versatility.

Valid point, but the same thing with any bike or convertible. Hey, how do I ge that bug off my windscreen? You mean out of your teeth (if you don't have a full face helmet)? Does anyone know why there is snow in my cabin? Again, why would you take that out in snow, or a bike for that matter? Bundle up.....don't even mention the ice.... Why would I? When you go on that mountain jount, where do you put all the trinkets your girlfriend wants to buy? Why would you bring the g/f? The helmets or wind would just mess up her hair. Don't wear anything nice. I would still rather spend that kind of money on something with all bit more versatility.
Versatility is overrated. You don't buy the atom for an only car, you buy it as a second or third car. You buy it to go out on beautiful days and bring it to track/auto x events, not for "jaunts shopping with the g/f" or for snow duty. You seemed to have missed the entire point of the whole car.

That was my point about the bike. Why bother with the car? Got the Sky and the Ram for daily driving. If I want to speed, I can put on leathers, go to the track, and blow the doors off damn near anything on a ZX-14. And I can keep the other $40k to mod my Sky with.

Hey, whatever floats your boat, but to me, the thing looks like the sand rails we used to build in auto shop when I was in high school (a long time ago), only faster and more expensive. If I'm gonna go fast, I'm gonna do it with style ...

I can't resist. Yesterday. Sunday. Tucson Arizona. Arizona Border Region SCCA Autocross. Granted, he just got the Atom. Granted, he doesn't really know how to drive it yet. Granted, he is not real experienced in Autocross. Still....................................My Redlines' 66 second run stacked up pretty well against his 71. Probably never happen again, so I have to enjoy while I can.

Very Cool, but for $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 I will go for a Z06.
