Cobalt SS Zero-Lift Shift

I heard that the upcoming Cobalt SS will start using the 2.0 Turbo engine. The car will only come with a 5 speed manual and the GM website specifically says it's designed for "zero-lift" shifts (GM's words). Of course you can do it with any car but I'm just surprised GM would condone (almost encourage) such drivetrain abuse!

I would think it blips the throttle automatically like an F1. -J

Yea, if you read motor trend or car and driver (or maybe another website with in-depth reviews of cars), they talk about the feature on the HHR SS. It also has launch control.

Clutch to the floor disengages the throttle in them cars above a certain rpm.

Actually the article says it doesn't disengage the throttle, says it keeps the RPMs up to maintain boost between shifts. Does the Sky have the same programming? I thought that was the reason for the manuals being slower than the autos?

It disengages the throttle. Promise.

IE: Gas mashed to floor. Whaaaaaa. 6250 rpm, you slam the clutch in and keep gas to the floor. Your engine doesnt shoot up to redline and bounce off of it, but rather, the gas pedal (throttle) input is disengaged and the engine stays at 6250 rpm until you successfully put it in the next gear and release clutch.
