GT Roadster Gets the Love

Detroit Free Press ... By Mark Phelan ... March 11, 2007

GENEVA , Switzerland - The Opel GT roadster may have created the cleverest advertising slogan. The GT is the European version of the U.S.-built Saturn Sky, and it kicked off its marketing tagline - GT'aime - at the auto show in French-speaking Geneva, Switzerland, last week.

Reach back to your high school French and think about it.

GT'aime; Je t'aime, the French phrase for "I love you."

Europeans already clearly do love the GT. It hasn't gone on sale yet, but it was named convertible of the year at the prestigious Geneva auto show.

Opel's European Web sites will include a GT corner where buyers can research the hot little convertible and upload audio in a contest to see who can whisper "Je t'aime" in the sexiest, most seductive voice.

Very nice! I love the "Americanized" terms used to describe some of the photos, such as "chromapplikation" for the chrome bar applied to the grille, and "frontpartie" for photo of -- what else -- the front part of the car. Now where's the photo of the "whitefunnelthingy" under the hood?

Loved the webavert although it was rather SLOOOOW to load. The juxtaposed masculine and feminine appeal (not to mention overt sensuality) were very well done. The surreal colorized B&W really pulled it together! I dare say this will get create some attention!

Nor white either. I wonder if the only top color is black and if the only interior colors are black or black and red?

Notice the front air fairing is black on all the colors? Interesting.

Wow! I just watched the english versions of the GT aime videos and thought they were just awesome. I wish Saturn would make a similar version for the Sky to run in the US.
