Am I crazy?

My 24 YO daughter and her college roommate are going to Dayton this afternoon and needed to rent a car.

So I gave them my SKY to drive!

I mean why not?

So if you see a Graphite with Ilini plates give them a big wave!

Thank goodness for OnStar.

I hope your daughter knows how lucky she is to have you as a parent.

I don't usually loan my cars out to anyone and am very particular about them.
One day, I did loan my GTP to the 26-year-old daughter-in-law.
Later, I learned that she & my son had a somewhat heated discussion
over whether would I let one of them borrow my Sky.
I just smiled at them both while thinking "not in a million years".

I think I would have volunteered to pay for the rental car before I lent them my solstice.

But then I don't know your daughter. If you trust her to treat your car with the same respect you give it, then I would say congratulations on raising such a fine young woman!

I hope she's more responsible than me. I'm 24 and I know how I drive my Sky

I would trust my 19 YO with my Sky, in fact her mother has already tossed her the keys on many occasions.. However ever since I bought her the G6 GT, no morre requests... Here a little tune for your occasion.. to stay in tune with the Topic header..

you're crazy! But I can't really say since I don't have kids... If you can trust your daughter then that's all there is to it. You're a pretty cool dad now

Not MY SKY

Toss the keys to the 06 Impala daily driver, no problem, already done that she took it for the weekend. Sky HELL NO! Corvette, HELL NO! Sunbeam just no, but the x-fiancé that spend all day helping fix it, yea take it out for a spin let me know what you think
Even if I trusted the daughter I would have doubts about the college roomate, how well do you know her?

Good Insurance?

Jim, you're a little crazy. I get nervous letting my son take the Sky to his girlfriends about 10 miles away.

I bet they have a great time!! You're a better guy than I am.

I voted solely on the thread title. You may be crazy, but that's not what qualifies you!

She's obviously trustworthy, and they'll have an awesome road trip! I've let my mom and a few friends borrow my car (after roof, parking and speed bump instructions, of course) and I'm sure I'll continue to do so. It's insured and it's replacable, so why not spread the joy?

No you are not crazy. It's only a car and it can be replaced. The memories she will have will be priceless. T.

Ahhhhhhhh, I think it depends on the 24YO Daughter, but obviously she is close enough to Dad to win his trust, and that says a lot.

Great Comments...

Thanks for all the fabulous replies. It was only to attend a weekend wedding so I figured it would mostly be highway miles and I did provide instructions on the little gotchas like the low front end, the top and of course, cupholders

She's not likely to ask for it permanently since she's only 5'2" and before whenever she drove it she always complained the seat was too low

A couple things made it a far better option over a rental car IMHO was it has a GPS, a radar detector and of course OnStar; plus it gets better milage than the daily driver by 10 MPG. I was tempted to call her on the OnStar phone during the first hour. But I figured that would have scared the carp out of her

Waiting for pictures and her safe return this afternoon, or maybe tomorrow or maybe the next day...
