Body Shop Horror Story

Check the link.

Cliffs: Guy takes his nice 350z to a body shop to get a body kit mounted for a quoted price of $250, ends up with wood screws shot all through the body, lots of overspray, and some other things. Basically F-ed up his 350z. Check out the pics atleast if you dont want to read it all. For those in California, I suggest you stay away from this shop

OMG, that is sad, so so sad. I just got my car back from the body shop, if that happened to me nobody would see me post for 5-10 (7 with good behaviour).

I have seen better sh!t come out of high school boces. That is the Taco Bell of Body Shops. NEVER go to a body shop, especially for that kind of MOD work, unless you know at least one person that used them at least a year ago and you like the work done. Restoration shop for me if I ever decide to go custom!

That sucks!

Back in my younger days I rebuilt a 1950 Chevrolet pick up. I sanded it down to bare metal, after taking off fenders, hood, etc. I couldn't afford a real paint job so I went to Kmart and bought spray cans of primer and metallic blue. When I was finished with it the truck looked like it had a $10,000 paint job compared to this deal. Somebody would be paying to have all this fixed or buying me a new car before it was over.

OMG! I've thought about getting the body kit for SAPFYRE but this thread REALLY makes me stop and think SERIOUSLY about it. I am going to do some heavy research before I decide to do it. Thanks for the eye opening link to that fiasco. I only hope there are reparations (in the form of a new car) for this poor fellow. I have a couple of hail dents and it's killing me! I can't imagine having something like that happen!

I love the Shot Gun approach to Drywall screw placement. Did this guy hire the right type of painting contractor?

Never go to a shop run by tweekers, the working late at night part caught my eye, also the work quality, hard to do good work when you're spun to the max. I manage an auto paint store and have seen to many fly by nights like this. what a shame.

wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if he got his money back and a new kit from them it still doesn't take into account for all the damage they did to the car. You would have to replace almost every body panel on the car. Then you still have holes everywhere.

I would go to a specialty shop and pay the price..BUT, then again, I would NOT add a dress to a car that don't need it, besides, my Sky is a MACHO car not a wimpy car..

In my humble opinion, that poor cars body and framed is screwed for life. The idiot who did this (and I'll be civil about it) so call JOB, drilled holes into that cars frame. WHO in their right mind uses wood screws on a car?? I thought this type of work does NOT require any kind of screws.. Or does it? any body know? Looks like on one of the pics, the guy left off the bolts under the hood that hold the front face under the hood off..
OK sky members, what is the lesson learned with this poor guys fiasco situation as far as the price for this disaster? whether it was $250 or $750? What did you understand??
