Do you Cuil?

Cuil - The World's Biggest Search Engine

Welcome to Cuil—the world’s biggest search engine. The Internet has grown. We think it’s time search did too.
The Internet has grown exponentially in the last fifteen years but search engines have not kept up—until now. Cuil searches more pages on the Web than anyone else—three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft.

Rather than rely on superficial popularity metrics, Cuil searches for and ranks pages based on their content and relevance. When we find a page with your keywords, we stay on that page and analyze the rest of its content, its concepts, their inter-relationships and the page’s coherency.

Then we offer you helpful choices and suggestions until you find the page you want and that you know is out there. We believe that analyzing the Web rather than our users is a more useful approach, so we don’t collect data about you and your habits, lest we are tempted to peek. With Cuil, your search history is always private.

Cuil is an old Irish word for knowledge. For knowledge, ask Cuil.

ugh...

nice unique format.

But I typed in my town name (only one in USA) and so far the first 10 pages are really just ads. Nothing really of substance (its site links like remodeling.com that arent really about my town, they just load up for every town)
...hotels, motels, resorts
... Restaurant, Doctor Reviews
... Super 8 Motels
... General Contractors

I do the same single word search in google, and immediately the first 9 of 10 links are usable links specific to my town.

Cuil: Short test... worthless. Maybe I'll blog these findings

I thought this was an interesting idea, so I did the same with my town. Like your's, mine is the only one of that name in the US. I found the results to be very interesting, and informative. The articles were even broken down, with tabs across the top of the page for differant catagories. I found my short test to be pretty impressive.

Differant towns - differant results.

Yea, that engine is useless. I searched for a couple things I couldn't find through google, and first I got a "we didn't find any results" message, changed it, got the same message, changed it, got the same message . Then I changed it to a really simple search and just got a bunch of ads. It is worthless. Just people trying to make some money with something new. We need an icon of a smiley face flushing a clock down the toilet for wasting time.

I played with it, I seem to get more results but less useful ones than Google... Just needs some time to mature I think.
