That'll be the day this congress does anything... They should rein in the speculators AND start heavy drilling in this country...THAT will take care of the speculators in the energy field, let them go and re-speculate the real estate again, create another bubble, or perhaps the internet again, anything that DOES NOT effect the every day lives of Citizens..
.. Like gas prices..![]()

Told you it was traders manipulating the market....
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The government charged an oil trading firm Thursday with manipulating oil prices in the first complaint to be announced since the regulators began a new investigation into wrongdoings in the energy markets. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission accused Optiver Holding, two of its subsidiaries and three employees with manipulation and attempted manipulation of crude oil, heating oil and gasoline futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange. "Optiver traders amassed large trading positions, then conducted trades in such a way to bully and hammer the markets," CFTC Acting Chairman Walt Lukken said at a press conference. "These charges go to the heart of the CFTC's core mission of detecting and rooting out illegal manipulation of the markets." |

Well I do not believe there is an energy crisis, yes the world is using a lot more oil today then it was 10 years ago but I think there is still so much out there it is a non-issue.
For one there are large amount of it in Alaska and off the coast. Second, the oil companies own leases of land that they know have oil under them but they are not drilling that land. Third, I have a co-worker whose family owns a lot of land in western Kansas. They have leased part of their lands to an oil company. The company drilled andd found a few small well and one very large well. HOWEVER ALL OF THOSE WELLS ARE CAPPED AND ARE NOT BEING PUMPED. The family was told there is a lot of oil there and they still receive a rather large check monthly despite no oil being pumped. I for one think solar panel technology should be heavily invested into so we don't have to be held hostage by oil companies, foreign or domestic.
