Food Drive/New Postage Rates

Didn't want to make two new threads so i figured i put it all in one...On May 10, 2008..The National Association of Letter Carries is having there Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, you should have recieved a card in the mail advertising the event....All donated food will be delivered to local food banks in your community...Please donate what you can, just leave a bag on your porch and your carrier will pick it up....I'm not sure about rural carries though....Also, May 12, New Postage Rates will go into effect a first class stamp wil go up to $.42....All "forever" stamps with the Liberty Bell will be $.41 until monday and then they will be $.42...anyway, this has been a message from your resident Letter Carrier...SteveSky67

Damn...and I remember when first class stamps cost $.03, and I think airmail was $.07. Now, I do not believe they even have airmail, it all goes that way, and $.42 is still a bargain. Oh yea...post cards were a penny. As the song goes.."Times they are a changing".

And gas was 25 cents a gallon. 42 divided by 3 is 14. Gas today at $3.60 a gallon divided by 25 is 14.4. I guess postage (and everything else) has to keep pace with the price of gas.

Already did my bit.....Loaded the bag from letter carrier to the hilt. Good luck with this today, it's a very good cause.

So yup I went & bought a sheet of "Forever Stamps" yesterday.

Thanks for your donation, it is certainly a very good cause...because it helps you local community...It was just disapointing that i didnt get as much on my route. It was also shocking that out of five churches that was called to pick up the food, only one called back, very strange...but as long as it helps the people..thats good enough for me, SteveSky67

I bought like 5 sheets of "Forever Stamp" have to save my pennies...lol...believe me they will last a long time....SteveSky67
