My story and I'm stickin to it!

Way before "flippin" houses was popular on TV, Lenny Carr and I bought and renovated old houses. We would generally make structural repairs, replace old electrical, plumbing, drywall, windows, and mechanical systems where needed. We would also add decks or screened in porches and make these houses LIVE again! We did real good. One such home a very large Victorian ( our biggest yet) was across the river in "Old Town", Henderson Ky. Lenny and I got the house for several thousand dollars and went to work. Lenny on the exterior, and I on the interior. I finished the drywall in two of the upstairs rooms and when the sledge hammer broke through the old plaster and lathe of this odd shaped wall of the third room a strange dark cavity was revealed. What I discovered would stop our work for months.
I couldn't see very well so I yelled for Lenny to bring the flashlight up when he came. Meanwhile I opened the cavity wider. What we discovered was the remains of a human being! Perforated, leathery skin and bone. Scared us to death! We called in the Police, they called in the Coroner, heck I think even the FBI got in on this one! Meanwhile, we, both being young Industrial Arts teachers, myself with a minor in History, (thank God not English) Searched area news archives, dealing with missing persons. This research covered southern Ill., Ind., and Ky. Not a clue who he was!
Months passed, television and newspaper articles turned up nothing about the poor individual and his terrible fate. Lenny and I lost a lot of time and money. Later a phone call led us to the Coroners office where we met with the University of KY. Division of Forensic Sciences. We were then told of their findings! Their research found the date of the mans death to be between April and June of 1808! They wouldn't give us his name because they were still searching for relatives. Turns out he was the Henderson County hide and go seek champion! Lenny and I quit remodeling old houses and started painting them instead! Puggs
