Threw a party one Saturday night that the folks went to the Hibernians. 75 kids drinking Ripple, Boones Farm, Bali Hi and Colt 45. Someone dumped liquor in the fish tank. Someone else used the swedish round coffee table as a discus. Everybody was making out in the bedrooms and eating the food out of the fridge. Inagaddadavida was on the turntable. Well now Miss Solli, you certainly don't look old enough to be part of the Woodstock generation. Keep on truckin'!

Once when I was about 15 some friends and I were just driving around in the small town we are all from and saw this girl one of us wanted to "talk" to and followed her home. We get there she gets out comes over to the car and we all start talking when this man comes up to the car DRUNK, not her dad, but he sends her inside anyway and demands we all (4 of us) get out of the car. He's calling us punks and so forth, can barely stand alone. So he turns to me and says "what's your name boy"; I say "I don't think it is any of your business". He whips out a revolver and says "this makes it my business"; I can tell you I told him my name and everything else he wanted to know. Freaky back then sort of still is.

Three guys die on Christmas Eve & try to get into Heaven.
St Peter meets them at the gate. Tells them they aren't exactly Heaven material, but in honor & spirit of the holiday, if they can show him something symbolic of Christmas, he'll let them enter.

First guy digs in his pocket & pulls out a lighter - says it represents the Christmas candle - he gets to enter

Second guy digs around in his pocket & pulls out a set of keys - says they represent the Christmas bells - he gets to enter

Third guy is looking around all nervous - digs wayyyy down deep in his pocket & pulls out a pair of women's panties. St Peter has a look of disbelief on his face and says...exactly how do those symbolize Christmas? Guy says...these are Carols.

When I was 17, a friend and I found a casket on the side of a dirt road in the middle of nowhere (Amarillo, TX). Fortunately it was empty! I loaded in the back of my 1964 Rambler. It stuck out at a weird angle. It was a very foggy night and we drove it across town to my Sunday School teacher's house and left it in his front yard.

The next morning I got a call from my friend saying the police had found out what had happened. He said he was careful not to tell them about me. The newspaper had a front page story about it and they mentioned "David .... and a friend..." I was so upset that I didn't get my name mentioned! BTW, did I mention it was Easter? The Sunday School teacher had put a sign on the casket. "He is not here. He is risen."

I'm making my football pool picks right now and don't have the luxury of my usual stats due to a Thursday night game. It's a tough week for picks and I need to do well. Any suggestions?

Cinci over Pitt though? That one's tough. Pitt hasn't looked stellar the last 3 weeks and Cinci has looked more than terrible all season, but Cinci's offense finally showed up last week. Soup thought this week was easy, so I told him to make the picks. Then he got to the confidence numbering and now he's having some trouble! I made a first pass at it and will post them when I get back from lunch.

That theory almost works though. This is not an easy week due to so many games that could go either way! The only safe bet is NE this week.

When I was a Sr. in high school, like many of the less than academically motivated students, I needed a fine arts credit to graduate. Since concert choir had no homework and no real talent was required, all of the derelicts ended up in the choir.

At that time a local TV station instead of signing off with the national anthem, would have a choir from the viewing area come down and sing. Inviting us was their first mistake. We were given 1 1/2 hours for lunch before heading down to the station. The bunch of us went over to Mike's house since his parents were divorced, an oddity at that time, and we could use his bathtub to ice down all the beer. We used the entire hour and a half to slam down as much beer as we possibly could. By the time we were loaded on the bus most of the male voices were snot slingin' drunk. When we got to the station they had a set of risers with a curtain for a backdrop. I was on the back row, my best friend, Jimmy two down from me and in between was our buddy, Phil. Phil was about 1/2 a head taller than us and his face got bright red when he drank. He also couldn't stand up, so Jimmy and I held him on his feet throughout the performance. As the camera panned the entire choir they got an excellent close up of Phil with his eyes closed, tongue hanging out and drooling on himself. Finally, as the last song ended and the camera pulled away we let go of Phil who promptly weaved a couple of times before falling backwards. Flailing for balance he grabbed the backdrop, ripping the whole thing down and the whole incident made the broadcast. For several years they would rebroadcast it periodically and post it in the TV guide of the paper, the only choir they did that for.

Since nearly everyone involved was either an athlete, a class officer or both, all we got was double secret probation and the admiration of our fellow students. Poor Mike, on the other hand, was neither an athlete nor a class officer. He got expelled. A raw deal if ever there was one. To this day, nearly 40 years later, whenever I talk to anyone from my high school this incident comes up.

I took Dallas. Here's what I have so far. The number next to the pick indicates the winner and how confident I am that they will win. Really, these are Soup's picks and I question a couple. I gave little thought to the numbers so far. I have 5 hrs 30 mins to change them.:

Green Bay
Dallas [7]

Atlanta
St. Louis [5]

Buffalo
Washington [10]

Detroit
Minnesota [6]

Houston [12]
Tennessee

Jacksonville
Indianapolis [14]

New York Jets [11]
Miami

San Diego [13]
Kansas City

Seattle
Philadelphia [4]

San Francisco
Carolina [9]

Cleveland [8]
Arizona

Denver
Oakland [1]

Tampa Bay [3]
New Orleans

New York Giants
Chicago [2]

Cincinnati
Pittsburgh [15]

New England [16]
Baltimore
Tie Breaker - 44 total pts

Straight up. Scoring is 1 pt for picking the winner X the confidence number.
So if NE loses, that's 16 pts I won't be getting. But if Denver beats Oakland, that's only 1 pt I won't get. A NE loss hurts me way more than a Denver loss.

This week is really hard to number because many of these games could go either way. I need to hunt up some stats. I might change that Oakland pick. Not sure I agree with it. I'll probably change the numbers some too.
