Yeah Sky Spy - Im hoping to catch a Wii or PS3 up here in Carlisle, PA at either Target or Walmart at midnight on their respective release dates... Carlisle doesn't seem to be the most crowded market and I found a lot of Black Friday doorbuster deals still available even on Sunday last year.

Pesonally I know I want a Wii... but the PS3 is sweeeeet also... just too many distractions in school can be a bad thing.

I can't make up my mind. I was thinking of getting a Wii since they first released information on it. I like Nintendo's focus on designing video games for all members of the family. Fun, interesting games instead of just shoot 'em up and racing games, which I get bored with. BUT I'm about to invest big bucks in a HD home theater setup...1080p...the works...and boy that PS3 sure would look sweet, not to mention the Blu-ray drive!

good luck, i was going to wait for one. I thought i'd show up 2 days prior. (comes out on friday) but to my dismay, there were people already waiting there, aparently from last thursday! Waiting a full week in advance outside the store.........

hmmmm........scratch that idea.

I also wanted one with the sole intention of reselling it. Pre-orders for the PS3 (i've seen on ebay) have been hitting close to $2500. That's right....just the preorder for 2500. Can't wait to see when people will actually sell theirs on ebay once they get it.

I was hoping to buy one to resell for 2000.

If you find one, buy an extra for me!!! I'll send you the money, and 5% of my profit

I heard a news story on the radio this afternoon about problems with PS3 crashing when playing PS2 games. They're providing patches for some, but not all of the problems. Don't bet the farm on a quick buck on PS3s.

I have a pre order in for a wii, the ps3 is too expensive for me, and the wii looks like a lot of fun. I ordered Zelda and Marvel for it already.

There are people camped out here at Best Buy as well, there were more than 10 tents when I drove passed there at lunch

I disagree. It's the most powerful of the 3 systems, provides better advancement with future mediums (Blue ray dvds.......i mean c'mon, you THINK the PS3 is over priced, it's an extremely cheap blue ray dvd player if you think about it. Go to best buy and take a look at stand alone blue ray dvd players, and show me one for less than 600)

Plus, it's the newest badest system on the block. Regardless of launch problems with ps2, it'll do extremely well. (if you wanna play ps2 games, you either already have your ps2, or you could pick one up used for $50)

People aren't buying the PS3 to play their PS2 games....

Besides......look at it this way. We're all here waiting quite a long time for a car that's the newest baddest boy on the block for Saturn, and it has some well known "issues"

Does that provide a threat to it selling all its units....? No, of course not. The majority will still buy it, knowing those problems, because those problems only happen some of the time. Yeah, some will drop their orders for it because of these issues, but there are 10 people right behind them willing to jump at the chance to get their spot.

After working for a video game retailer for rougly five years, I'd say wait for Sony to get the bugs out with the PS3, Sony had horrific issues with PS2 when that launched and PS3 is going to be no different, considering they are working with a proprietary medium. Also, if you wait more systems will be readily available and you will have a bigger selection of games to choose from when you pick one up. If you look at the 360 launch from last winter, the system was impossible to find until around April, and the system had roughly three games worth playing, in my opinion, Call of Duty, Fight Night and Dead or Alive.

I just paid off the balance on my preorder. The gamestop manager called me and said congrats, your PS# is being shipped, you can pick it up friday. I am taking a bat with me just in case, I heard about some fiascos from last time with the xbox 360

go there now (if you have the days off, might as well) I wouldn't take OFF days to do this.

I actually would be getting the system to PLAY the system. But what I find is that people are willing to wait in line with tents and sell them on ebay to make a few hundred dollars (not worth it in my opinion). I sat out in the rain all night long for the xbox360 and never received one because there were too many ebay people ahead of me with tents. So I am burned out by the whole process. It ended up that I just waited patiently for the xbox360 to arrive at Best Buy in early January (a whole 15 days from the launch date, oh-no!) and purchased one for the regular price. When the dust had cleared, there were thousands of unpurchased 360s on ebay and I had gotten one that wasn't involved in the "disk destroying" batch". Everytime one of these new systems comes out, people try to take advantage of others' excitement, and I refuse to play along. Microsoft initially promised large production numbers for christmas, then failed to follow through (people on waiting lists did not received their consoles), and now Sony has done the same thing: they swore that they would have the production numbers to satisfy the waiting lists and then MANY more. The latest news is that they will not be able to produce enough for even the lists and Gamestop/EB Games has already decided to do away with the lists they had created and go back to a "first come, first serve" (which I think is horrible to do to people who paid money to them and have been waiting with the promise that they will be one of the first). After watching what happend with the Xbox360, I am going to chill out and pick one up in Jan or Feb. The console is already too expensive as it is, $2000 to get one with all the early bugs when there are no good games out is ridiculous. Count me out.

WOW I guess when you put it that way....I think I will sit this one out too, I am still going to sams club to see if I can get one but if that falls through thats 600 more bucks to add to my sky down payment!!..so there is an up side to missing out
