Toyday's lesson... Humility!

We were on our way to Vegas and stopped to drop Nora's Vue at the Body Shop. When I pulled in I could not get the key out of the ignition and the car would not start again. Well I just had a new alarm installed on Saturday (actually finished today). So I thought they screwed something up. I called the place that installed it, tried to keep my cool until after explaining to the person who I was, they asked. Did you get the Alarm here. Which I screaned why would I call you if I did not!!!

So the guy who installed the Alarm drove an hour at 6:00pm at night to look at it. After testing a bunch of fuses. He got in the drivers side and started moving the shifter (Automatic). After a few seconds he said he found the problem. In the front part of the Shifter cover he pulled out the top to a sports water bottle I had placed there!

The installer (which was not the guy I screamed at) was very gracious and even resisted when I tried to pay him for his troubles.

Well we decided it was too late to drive to Vegas and went home to start tomorrow morning.

Thankfully I have a wife who is very accepting of my little quirks and moments of stupidity.

I personally would of much rather hid under a rock

Happens to the best of us.

Send the shop a thank you card and enclose an Amex gift card inside. You can write something like, "Thanks for sending someone out to help me. Customer service like that is rare, and I am very grateful that folks like your firm are around."

This sounds like a good company. I'm glad you found them.

Best of luck..... Lesson learned: soda caps bad.

<Serious discussion of Skip's girlfriend being in a coma moved to new thread.>

Maybe my post sounded like I was taking this alot more serious than I am. I felt bad about the guy coming out, however that is not stopping me from laughing at myself for doing it!!!

I had a friend do something similar while in Ireland this summer. After about an hour of a local farmer fiddling with the car, my friend noticed the shifter wasn't in park. He subtly put it in park while the farmer wasn't looking. Made for a funny vacation story.

I have often wondered if I kept a ledger of all the truly stupid things I have done and matched them against all the truly smart things I have done whether I would be in the red.

Yeah, this was almost as embarassing as getting "caught" by a bicycle cop!
