But summer is almost over!!!
I thought the idea was to look good in our "Swim Suits" during the summer.
Unless you are getting a jump on next year, or are getting prepared for the annual November Pig-Out (Thanksgiving)

But really, good luck and best wishes on your endeavor.

Did you see the tag "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should NEVER exceed 362 lbs". I'd say Kappa users should be fit to drive !

There is a definition in car loading many people don't know, so there is some misunderstanding in the max. total load of the car.
There is a normal driver and small luggage included in the car before counting combined weight of occupants and cargo.

- Normal driver 68 kg / 150 lbs
- small luggage 7 kg / 15 lbs

In other words driver, occupants and cargo should not exceed 362 + 165 =527 lbs (239 kg).

I see that you also didn't know about this. It says "occupants and cargo" not "normal load". Guess I should open a thread about this.

This has been covered on a previous thread, searching the threads will find it. We covered it a good while ago

Maybe I made a mistake about the definitions in the USA but what I told you above is the DIN Standard valid in all Europe. Here is the definition from wikipedia

Leergewicht = curb weight

Translation:

The term curb weight discribes the weight of an object using a difined standard.
To investigate the curb weight of a vehicle there are different standards existing. The curb weight of a street vehicle (such as a car) is composed out of the weight of the car, the 90 % filled gas tank, a 68 kg (150 lbs) weighty driver and 7 kg (15 lbs) luggage (origin DIN 70020). Annotation: Weight is .....

You also can see GM Europe (here an example of Opel Tigra) is using this definition in the discribed way:

0pel tigra_specs.pdf

If you look at the bottom of the first page, third line before end you find

Curb weight included driver (according to 70/156/EWG) - 1,235 kg (2,723 lbs)
Total weight - 1,450 kg (3,197 lbs)
Payload (occupant and cargo) - 215 kg (474 lbs) >>> without driver.

For the MX5 we have between 200 kg (441 lbs) and 110 kg (243 lbs) for occupant(s) and cargo without driver, depents on the weight of the options in the specific car. The car is the same is USA, you can compare.

Hope that info will make the weight game a bit clearly

I see what you are saying but this is totally different. Exactly 2 occupants and cargo weight, has nothing to the with curbweight etc...

Hey zamazingo,

maybe there are different rules in the USA and in Europe, but in Europe it's necessary by law that GM must write down a curbweight in the cars papers that is the

- empty weight of the car
plus
- weight of 90% gas tank capacity ~ 140 lbs
plus
- standardized driver (68 kg + 7 kg) 165 lbs

If you're right we have different rules in USA and Europe for curb weight / Leergewicht.
The offical data for the Opel GT are not publicized by Opel but if I have I will inform you.
