Why You Should Wear Your Seatbelt

Watch this, then tell me it's better to not wear a seat belt:

After seeing that, I'm getting seatbelts for my office chair!

Amazing video with no blood or guts, but horrifying in its own way...

About 25 years ago I had a very low speed roll over in a GMC Jimmy.
I happened to be wearing belts that day.
I've worn them every day since.

Had a fellow t-bone me in my SL at about 50 MPH after his brakes failed. The car was shoved through the dirt creating a six foot long ditch about a foot deep. My passenger had parts of his t-shirt imbedded in the seatbelt after that.

Yeah, I like seatbelts.

about 18 years ago I also rolled in a GMC Jimmy. There were two of us in the car. We were not wearing seatbelts. We did 360 in the air and rolled 1.5 or 2.5 times more on the ground. We were not wearing seat belts. In our strange case, I would have lost my legs if I was wearing a seatbelt. The door opened and then sliced into the passenger compartment. Right through where my legs were (or would have been). I was floating somewhere near the cealing at that point in time. I walked from the accident. We were pretty lucky. ....

Then the alternator went out on the ambulance....

Ressurection of the thread.

Wear your seatbelt if YOU want to. Don't preach or tell ME to wear mine. It is a CHOICE that I make.

In 2002 I was in an accident in my Saturn SL1. I hit a Chevy 3500 just slightly off from a direct head on, we were both going approximately 55mph.

He ramped off of my hood essentially and flipped end over end. His truck looked more or less fine other than the back end and the front bumper, but he flew out of the windshield (not wearing a seatbelt). He broke his hip, several other bones, bruised lungs, and full body road rash.

My motor landed over 100 feet from my car, essentially the whole vehicle separated at the firewall. My front end was all but missing, while the back 2/3 looked "normal". My only injury was lost skin on my knuckles. I was wearing my seatbelt, usually did, but now even more certain that I do.
