Anyone hear this???

Talking with a friend...big wig at GM...he stops me and says "don't sell your Sky". He can't talk...but he says in less than 3 years the SKY will be a collector. Does that mean they won't be making them anymore???

What do you think??

there have been many threads started about this subject. some say they will not be making anymore, some say that they will move the cars to the vette plant and possibly share the alpha platform, others have said it will continue on for a while and possibly get a chevy 6-cylinder version. It is all up in the air

There may be some truth to that. The tooling in Wilmington runs out in a few years, so production is likely moving somewhere else...possibly with a new platform.

Of course, if you got this from a big wig in GM, there is also the danger involved with drinking your own kool-aid.

Even if they discontinue production of the Sky/Solstice in a couple years, it'll be some time before it's a "collector" item. We recently owned a Buick Reatta, another GM 2 seater if you're not familiar with them, that had a very limited production run. They made coupes and convertibles with the verts being even more rare. Each were "hand made" and there are relatively very few on the road any more compared to other vehicles. Still, they can be found and bought fairly reasonably. The worst part is if you need a new windshield which may run upwards of over a grand for one.

Either way, our Sky is fun to drive right now. Don't care if it's going to be a "collector" anytime soon.

Are you Driving Tomorrow's Collector Car?

It's possible but you may need to wait a little more than 3 years unless you know a collector.

Xmicro Redline is counting on it...
Me, I'm just having way too much fun it.

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., Jan. 29 -- In January hundreds of thousands of car enthusiasts flock to the Scottsdale/Phoenix area to put in the ultimate bid for some of the rarest and most beautiful cars in the world. They are paying homage to this internationally attended event which yields world records for high sales in almost every collectible vehicle category. The high sale this year went to a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder for $3.3 million. Hagerty Insurance has announced its picks for the Hagerty Hot List: Top 10 Future Collector Cars. The list was created to advise consumers what hot cars of today will remain desirable in the next 20 years. With Hagerty's Hot List, you just might already have that future collectible sitting in your garage. All you have to do is wait...

Are you Driving Tomorrow's Collector Car?
