Anyone used to own a corvette

Hi
Great forum here folks. I currently own a 2007 velocity yellow vert and thinking about a sky. I think they are gorgeous so does my wife. Anyone on here take the plunge and get rid of your vette or thinking of it

thanks
Mark

Welcome to the forum!! Yeah, we've got a few Vette to Sky, as well as one or two Sky to Vette members.

I've owned 5 different Vettes and currently still have one and a Carbon Flash SKY. The Sky is just as much fun to drive and gets better gas milage. Of course the horsepower isn't there and believe it or not the Vette has more storage room in ti!

I have both (but a 2003 Z06), and the corvette is definitely nicer on the inside, more spacious and has lots more room to haul stuff. The Sky is a lot cheaper to operate (my redline 5M gets 29+MPG on all city driving, and around 31-32 on the highway depending on how fast I go). The insurance is slightly cheaper too (but not much). The main difference is the corvette is much more roomy on the inside.
The main thing I like about the Sky is it is a lot more fun to toss around. I routinely break the back end of the vette loose and scare my self. The Sky has a lot more understeer so it is easier to keep control. The Sky has enough power to be fun and give a nice little push back into the seat, but not enough to be dangerous. That's just my 2 cents.

I am a Vette to Sky convert. I had a 2000 Torch Red coupe that I traded in to get the Sky Redline. I enjoy the Sky a lot but it is very different. I'm modding mine up towards LS1 power levels and should be a bit happier when I'm there.

Things you'll miss:
Trunk space
Linear power delivery
Massive aftermarket
Knee space

Things you'll love:
Gas mileage
non-linear power delivery (sometimes a turbo is fun too )
the compact nature of the community. Everyone has the opportunity to get to know everyone.
feeling like you're driving a high powered go-kart

We have had Corvette's in the past.
And we were considering buying another one - but then I saw the Sky.
It was not yet for sale and then found out that they would be coming out with a turbo at a later date.
After 21 months of waiting, we bought my Red Line & I have absolutely NO regrets.

Vette and Sky Family

Bought the Daytona Sunset Orange 06 Coupe Corvette in November of 05, his toy since I already had the classic British car Sapphire Blue 64 Sunbeam Alpine. I drove the Corvette more then he did and yes it will get away from you lots of raw horse power and ours is not a convertible, I am the only one that has ever taken the top off. I saw the Solstice and nice but well, then I saw a Sky at the Auto Show, I am in LOVE. Test drove the base and well gee spoiled to the power in the Corvette. Turbo did they say Turbo on a Sky , Redline Wow that would be just right. Ordered and waited 9 months before I got my Sky, no regrets I just love that car, he gets the Corvette back,
Took my Sky Redline manual shift to the road track in Hallet, Oklahoma first time newbie and well I did OK since a good time is 1:35 and my best time was 1:45, so yes the Sky will haul and handle curves with any performance car, with mods we don't know the limits yet
Insurance for the cars well the corvette is 1/3 more then what the Sky is so check that out with you local agent, and we are both mid life age. Corvette cost more, more horse power, more storage room, roomier, less gas mileage and higher insurance. Sky Redline cost less, cheaper to insure, limited storage room, good gas mileage and slightly higher insurance then any other new car. As some have said for the money the Sky is more for the buck!

I had 2 SKY's, loved 'em both, but necessity required a little larger car for Kathy, & I became a HP Junkie I'm thinking Supercharger for Scarlett next year
