I have the Garmin Nuvi 760 with the beanbag mount. It sits right on top of the center console and never moves. Plus, there are no suction cups or tape of any kind. The 760 can be had now for around $500 I believe. Worth every penny in my opinion, especially if you're in a metropolitan area that's easy to get lost in. You should be able to get one with the 2009 map update already installed on it because that update just came out about a month ago. BTW, Garmin uses a better search engine than both Magellan and TomTom and also tells you what side of the street your destination is on.....check reviews at

I'll second the Garmin Nuvi 760, I use mine with the suction cup mounted to the piano black top dash section. I use it even when I don't need the maps, it has full bluetooth connectivity, so it works perfect for hands free calling. I never use my onstar phone anymore, the Garmin is easier since it automatically loads my contacts and phone history. Plus you can grab anything in Garmin Points of Interest database, and call ahead with one touch of a screen button.

I have the Garmin 660 and mount it witht he scution cup. I also got one of those non-slip mats and cut it to fit around the suction cup so I can put my IPod on the top! If you are in a long phne call, you can plug the 660/770 in to the aux in port on the monsoon radio and have even better audio from your bluetooth phone.

I'll be the odd man out here.

I have navigation software on my verizon voyager and plug it into the iPod port so its audio plays through the Sky's stereo. After all, do you really take your eyes off the road to focus on a 4" LCD screen to see where you're going? The voyager's audio commands are sufficient for navigating throughout SoCal. I even use it when traveling in my RV.

That's why I chose the voyager, love the keyboard! Also, with Verizon, I can add my Sky's onstar phone number as a "family plan" number when my onstar subscription runs out.

I use a Garmin Nuvi 770. It too will broadcast audible directions through the car's FM radio.

The best nav system for the Sky is whatever is the best for you. Look at as many as you can, and see which one "feels" better to you. All of them are comparable in abilities, some will have features you like and some you don't. And all will occasionally give you bad directions.

I havent been actively looking to buy one... but ads have caught my eye...

have ya noticed the prices on these things seem to have done down 50% or more? I keep seeing them advertised under $200, when a year ago $400 would get you an entry level model.

Or is it the ones being advertised are "last years model" and missing features of the new ones?

Steve,
Up until yesterday COSTCO had the 760 for ~$360.00 In the garmin 700 series and up you can use their "FREE" (If you ask them for it) Mapsource software and map out a route you want to take and load it to the GPS and away you go.... I'm no computer science major but I learned that really quick when I tried to map out a route and load it to my 550 (which is great, the 550 that is) the software was very easy and the loading the route went great but the 550 can't be loaded, well it can, but you can't use it Learned that with the help of spag and Garmin. Oh yeah, All US purchaser's of a Garmin product are eligible for the "Free" Mapsource software, you just have to call or e-mail them and ask to have the CD sent to you, did that and got the CD about a week after the call.

I have been abusing my 60 days of free turn by turn with onstar.
So far the accuracy has been excellent. I like how it integrates with the Radio. I think I am going to keep it. Even though it will be more expensive in the end, I like the fact that I will not require something additional in the cab section of the car. I also have my mobile phone as a fall back if need be.

I've used Garmin's, Tom Toms, Laptop and PDA software, Nextell and ATT Turn by Turn and they all seem to be very accurate. So I personally think it's all about the GPS receiver, what features you want and the best price you can find.

Well, it is like any other electronic device that comes out. I bought a Sony Dolby Digital 5.1 DVD player back in 1997, it cost $700, that included the extended warrenty, but now you can get a player for like $20...Digital cameras have come down too as well.....my next purchase is a 65" DLP TV& Blue Ray, but i will wait for the PS3 to come down to at lease $200 before i go out and buy one, hell my GF got me the XBOX 360 and she paid full price and now it is cheaper...im going to hit several places before i buy one and do some reasearch as well...I want to thank everybody who responded to my post and give me some great information ..oh and besdies being a Star Wars geek, i'm also a tech-no geek as well. Costco - $349.99 After $100 OFF Garmin nüvi® 760 GPS w/ 4.3" Touch Screen Display

Costco online still has it for $350 after $100 instant rebate. They say expires today. I have this model. The problems I've had are:

- Sometimes chooses bizarre routes, like telling me to get off the freeway, then cross the street and get right back on. This doesn't happen often.
- Marginal reception in downtown Seattle among the tall buildings.

Other than those two things, it's been great and I use it frequently to find client offices.

Get an amplified auxiliary antenna. It really improves reception.
