Which is the best wind tamer / blocker / restrictor/ etc.

I've given up on the idea of a CAI for now. They all appear to be more show than go. A wind tamer / blocker / restrictor / etc. seems to be a better and more practical add on. Plus, I'm cheap. One has to be with two girls in college.

Anyway, who seems to have the best piece of plastic? Wind Restrictor? Kappasphere? Jay Senoff? Top Down? Windblox? Cousin Bubba with his BFH and blow torch? Others?

Spoken like true bachelors, if not I have to get back to college quick! I think he is not having two girls at college, he is paying for his two girls (daughters) to go to college and that is why he has to be cheap.

ON topic, I do not have a WR yet either and was wondering about them myself. Unless you buy them all and try them, like a Consumer Reports, I don't think you can tell which has the best wind block advantage. I would suspect that they are all about the same at blocking the wind, except for the Saturn Fly Swatter which does not appear to me to be able to stop much, (and you get holes in your car as a bonus).

Careful boys (or girls. I'm not picky.) The two girls are my daughters. And contrary to the jokes about farmer's daughters, they both grew up knowing how to wrestle cattle and put up hay and smack down rubes. Not like the woosie jobs city slickers get at McDeaths or Burger Thing. Oh, and I'm the baby of our family, at 6'3", 250 lbs. We used VW Beetles in jr high for weight lifting.

Any way, except for the cool engraving lighting options, I'm not entirely convinced Wind Restrictor is the best bet. 'Though you gotta admit, they're one sharp piece.

Seen the WR

The local Sols have the one by Robert not the Kappa, it mounds on the trunk they like them. I am waiting on feedback for the newer Upshield that mounts with double stick behind the seats not on the trunk. My trunk is hard enough to close without the WR in the way. I detest the Dealer windshield, test drove the car with one on could not see through the darn thing looks awful. The sol crowd seem to not have a problem with rubbing on the back glass etc they have the little bumps to prevent it.
If any one has the new upshield let us (me) know how you like it? Does it vibrate any? Installation not to hard? I do worry about the adhesive but if I put it on it will be permanent, not taking it off!

My suggestion? Buy the cheapest one you can find that looks good and functions as good as all--That way, you can keep sending those support dollars to the girls-- Please don't knock our CAI's, those that have 'em, love 'em--

I have the KappaSphere Windscreen. It looks great, and installs using the 4 screws that hold top to the font of the trunk behind the passenger compartment. You remove the screws, and install new, slightly longer ones and bobbins for the windscreen to rest on. This makes it easy to put in and take out, being held in place by the decklid and its rubber seal. It is not too tight at all, hardly thicker than the top, so I am not worried about the rubber seal.

So far as actually stoping wind, if the windows are down, I don't think ANY of the windscreens do any good at all. With the windows up, I can tell a difference, especially on cold nights with the heat on!

I would NEVER keep any of this type of windscreen installed with the top up. Too much pressure on the decklid and seal, and rubbing on the rear window, regardless of any protection.... The KappaSphere model solves this by being extremely easy to put in and remove, and comes with a nice balck sleeve to store it in, which I keep in the back part of my trunk.

Yep. I had to make the decision twice, and both times I went with the KappaSphere SKYshield. I like the fact that it is removeable, and it is cut specifically for the SKY so that it fits the car's lines perfectly. Some other versions are cut for the Solstice and will work on the SKY, just not perfectly aligned with the top of the humps.

I apologize in advance for using the term "humps" in this post.

I just install the Kappsphere version II Upssheild. I like the way it looks and I was a little spooked by trying to fit anything into the trunk seal. So far I really like how it looks and performs.

No vibrations or rattles

Keep me posted Jayman, and RMFNSKY please let me know if you have a problem when the sun warms up and how the heat effects that adhesive? I am almost sold on the Upshield from Kappashpere, almost!
Took me several months to order that stubby antenna, love it, but had to be very ARSO (anal retentive sky owner) and make sure it was just the right one.

If you are truly cheap, make your own. Sheet of acrylic from home improvement store, fine tooth jigsaw blade, and, voila ! Wind deflector. About $15.

Windrestrictor or shower door?

We here at Windrestrictor have been shopping around. It seems as though you may be able to purchase a clear shower door from your local hardware store and mount it with thick black harnesses to the back of your seats. This should only cost you a little over $20.00.

The saying is an oldie but goodie. You get what you pay for. Our product is 40X's more scratch resistance. This adds substantial amount to the cost of production, also laser fabrications, custom designs etc... There is no comparison.
Beware of cheap products.

Skys are high end roadsters and accessories should only be top quality.

We love our windrestrictor from Robert. The quality is great and the etching draws a lot of attention. You can shop around, but i don't think you will find a better product.

Can you recommend a harness for this type of setup? I'm thinking that I could also find a way to use the shower door as a top if I could find a way to strap the front on to the windshield and lift the back a little so it wouldn't hit my head. This would give me a windresistor AND a clear top. How cool would that be?

I certainly realized you guys were joking - and you should be ashamed for not giving a girl ample warning that this thread was funny. I just had abdominal surgery 2 weeks ago and when I read the shower door responses I got to laughing... okay off to take a Vicodin now... Crazy, crazy forum members = must be some of the funniest people in the whole dang world.

I have to pipe in here! I have Robert's version 2 WindRestrictor and love it. I guess you might say I am basically lazy when it comes to extra work. I keep my car
