2006 Ford Focus SES.

Although I wouldn't call it a beater.
The SES is actually rather sporty believe it or not. Responsive steering, sway bar, low profile tires.

1997 Saturn SC2 -- it has 65000 miles on it only -- runs good OK in snow (FWD - which I hate - but I'm used to it), starts great - no rust (plastic!!!)

My 2004 Saturn VUE V6 All Wheel Drive has proven excellent for the winter weather, and for hauling pinball machines.

Before that, it was my 1992 Saturn SC (no pinball machines in that....)

White Buffalo

That is what I call my 06 Chevrolet Impala flex fuel car, a big white buffalo. Why, because that is the way it feels when you drive it, not a quick and nimble Impala aka antelope, but it drives like a big ole buffalo. This car will go anywhere in the ice, snow, and over curbs sits nice and high front wheel drive. The trunk, OMG you can put at least 5 dead bodies in that trunk. I bought the car to drive to work and back and its our trip car. Purchased in September of 2005 it already has 47,000 miles on it, been to Florida three times now and once to Boston, MA. Unlike the Sky it is very low maintenance, not once has it been into the dealer too have something fixed. I would recommend a used Impala as a excellent beater car, and yes it gets 28 mpg combined driving, look for the option of E85 also.

When it rains I drive my F150 4x4. Mileage doesn't matter, I am only a couple of miles from the office. Need a truck anyway with our large lots and gardens, always hauling something.

If we are going out for dinner during the winter we drive the Queen's Jag.

I have my 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue GLS from before I bought the Sky. It is starting to get the dreaded Indiana-wheel-well-rust. The wheels are getting rim leaks too. I was at 35 PSI last night on the right rear and this morning I was down to 10 PSI! I have had it since 1999 and I will drive it until it dies. I don't know what I will do after that. I am open to just about anything GM or foreign. My sister got one of the Hyundai's and really loves it. I haven't driven it so my judgment is reserved.

I drive a '93 Jaguar XJ6 for winter. Nice and heavy, great in snow and ice with a winter driving mode.

Mine does not have that feature but they do come with heated seats, so does Bogie's Ford Focus, step daughter bought one for Christmas with the heated seats.

2000 Toyota Camry XLE

with the right tires its bullet proof... and it NEVER breaks... never once did i make a warranty claim and have only had to do basic maintenance. if your looking for something extremely reliable yet decently stylish, thats the car. anything from 97-01 in Camry is great. of course 2000 and up is gen 4.5 which has some slightly updated styling ques.

My winter beater is a 1998 Chevy Suburban. I bought it used at a cheap price. It's got 109K miles on it but it's 4x4 with a strong motor. Gotta have 4x4 for winters in Nebraska and something with enough power to pull the boat in the summer.
