Black Calipers
I did my calipers in black today with the g2 kit. I painted over the wire clips on the rear brakes. I don't think this should affect my brakes but I want to make sure. Can anyone tell me what they do? Will I have a harder time changing my brake pads?

I just took my rear calipers off last night.
I wasn't paying all that much attention, but the clip either holds the outboard pad in the caliper, or holds the caliper to the bracket. I think the former, but it could be both. I think you'll be OK. As an aside, I have basically the same color Sky as you. I was originally going to polish my calipers, but then I discovered the fronts are not aluminum (although the backs appear to be). Then I was going to paint them red, but after reflecting, I think that's too ricey on the dark blue red line. I have used G2 products in the past and liked them, so I've ordered one kit each of their black and silver. I'm going to mix them to get a sort of graphite metallic color. I'm also smoothing them out - on the fronts, a bandsaw with 80 grit has easily taken off most of the sand marks and casting flash (I have the calipers off waiting for stainless brake lines). The rears seem like nice aluminum castings so they should clean up pretty easily. What do you think of graphite calipers? I wanted something a little more subtle than red or yellow, and I almost did black or silver. I'm hoping the graphite calipers will give the wheels a more detailed look, without taking anything away from the wheels. I guess I'll find out when I get it done.

Hmm sounds like a good idea. Maybe you should mix some small batches so you can get the color just right before adding the reactant. G2 paint sure stays put. I believe anything that comes in two components that have to be mixed must be good. I still can't get some of it off my hands. Be sure to post pics. Are you sanding away inperfections in the cast of the caliper or are you sandig away the bumpy texture?

I've basically smoothed out all the visible surfaces, grinding off the flash and sanding the bumps off.
I found that I wasn't able to really preserve the slight angled surfaces on the outboard side, so I decided just to gently smooth them out too. I think they'll look pretty good. I spent an hour on one of the fronts last night and managed to get 80% of what I want to smooth done, but there'll be a lot of handwork to do also.
