Blackened head/taillights??
Yesterday I saw a black mercedes with blackened lights. It looked very sharp. With the lights off you couldn't even tell the car had lights. Everything just blended in with the rest of the car.
I'm curious if anyone has done this to their sky. Mine's silver pearl and I'm trying to visualize how something like that might look on mine. Other than blackened, is there anything else that can be done to the lights to make them look a little more interesting? |

I have asked this as well....
you can buy the RL headlamps for the front and buy tinting kits for the taillights I have a Silver pearl as well and am contemplating doing this for appearance purposes

If it matters - I believe it is illegal to tint the headlights in almost every state and same for the tailights in most states.
You could use the RL headlight assembly to give the illusion of blackened headlights without actually tinting them (I think this is what most sol/sky people have done). I thought about doing the tint also, I think it looks awesome on the silver pearl but I've already had a few run ins with the local fuzz. This car just attracts to much attention to get away with much in my area so I decided to not tint. I've noticed in my area that alot of the kids have their tailights blackened (I think the cops look the other way on that one) but I have never seen the headlights blackened except for cars in car shows. some links for ya-- do it yourself RL style headlights-- http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...highlight=tint silver graphite with RL lights- Redline Headlights on my SKY silver pearl with RL type headlights (blackened)- http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/s...ight=headlight hope some of this helps

Looking at close up photo's of the sky's headlamp assembly the process should be the same for the sky lights as is for the Sol's as set out in the first thread link USMC has posted. The benefit to doing this way vice a total blackout film is the headlamp bulb projection is not altered in any way keeping it legal. Doing this on the tail assembly is not possible as the two outer shells plastic is melted and bonded together (not just glued light the heads. As far as the tails go if you go with a light smoke color covering the cops should not bother with it so long as the light can still be easily seen. Swith the tail to a multiple LED bulb to show through the smoke film. I haven't done the tails yet but am planning to in some fasion.
