Brand New From JPM (& Xmicro:-)! Awesome item

OK, I had the idea, but he did all the work!

Well, in Collaboration with Joe at JPM, I have been dying to do this since the day I picked my Redline up. A custom leather Manual Case to match the exact custom font I did on my visor covers! The ugly plastic bag GM gives you is a joke. I described what I wanted to Joe at JPM down to the Magnetic latch and man, can I say he nailed it to the stitch color!

Thanks Joe!!

WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE "REDLINE" FONT ON THE BACK, that is my own custom font, Joe would be willing to make these for people if there is enough interest. The price range will be up to Joe to chime in with, but the discussion we had he was being VERY FAIR for us SkyRoadster/Solstice Forum people! Keep in mind he spent quite a few hours on this, so you need to figure man hours plus materials, and after all they are custom. I think this is a must have, but I am a nut, so what do you people think???

What plastic bag? GM didn't give me one with my car.

I like these. I'd love to to keep my manuals and registration/insurance stuff in it, and therefor separate from the pen, swiss army knife, tylenol and other "just in case" items I'd like to keep in the glovebox.

Offer it in all black to match my black-on-black leather, and I'll order one as soon as I can afford it.

Thanks all, it took some time, but is well worth the wait.

I also got the center console and door arm cushions in Red. I will post those pics once I install them this weekend!

Genuine leather, from a small business operator?

I'd say anywhere from $40-$60 would be what I'd call reasonable, but that's a low guess. Without any knowledge of cost of materials, how long it takes to make, and how much JPM could be making spending that time on other items, I couldn't give what I would call a fair price for all involved.. If all those things raised the price, I'd still consider one. It's a classy way to store the manual.

The dealership that I bought my civic from gave me a nice plastic bag for the manuals, I loved the convenience of being able to keep all the documentation nice and neatly tucked away. And it did wonders when you had to dig around in the glove box for something.

Joe will chime in, but that is low. It took around 4 hours, if I remember........Hello Joe, that is correct right????

And he uses great leather, magnetic latch, custom stitch, etc.

4 hours by hand? Then I'd say $80 to $120 would be a better guess, but still lacking information.

Oh, and Joe gets brownie points if there's "Handmade in the USA" lettering anywhere.

At least now you are playing the same sport, if not the same ballpark!

Seriously, Joe will chime in by tomorrow, I am sure!

Well, to be honest, it's really hard to come up with a "reasonable" price when I'm so steeped in prices for items that are made by people in China for next to nothing.

Kinda makes you see those chinese-made goods in a different light.

Not to be a stick in the mud here, however it may have taken Joe 4 hours to do the first one. However, will it continue to take four hours to do each one if he gets a steady supply of orders for these? Typically, any first item always takes longer, as you work with materials and figure out patterns. Now if it took Joe 4 hours to do after making a pattern and having pieces pre-cut (as he would if he had many orders) then yes, the $100-$120 would be a fair price. If it only takes 1 hour to make with all the aforementioned work done is it still worth that kind of money?
Joe does great work. I'm having him do my center console as we speak and everything I've seen has been wonderful. So this is not a knock on his work or what he charges for prices.

Thanks Paul. Your pics are better than mine

For those interested on exactly what makes up this handy pouch, here is some info.

It's a hard case with soft hinge. The latch is magnetic (as visible with the two protruding dots). The interior is lined with genuine Alcantara so you can keep just about anything in there and not worry about it scratching or marring. The exterior is genuine Italian leather and can be customized down to the last detail.

Keep in mind that this is more of a luxury item instead of something that's only made to be functional and nothing else. Kind of like fitted luggage I guess. The last little detail to bring the car up a notch.

The first one did take four hours. Some of that is embroidery time and other parts were tweaking the pattern. Subsequent ones will obviously take less time (unless special requests are submitted).

I'm shooting to get a plain one color unit with no embroidery out around $98. Options and such will be extra of course. The price is similar to a set of visor covers basically, although it takes a bit more time to make.

I'll see about getting a group buy going before the holidays roll around. Right now, I'm trying to focus on getting late orders caught up since console are now rolling in slowly and are being sent back and forth so I won't be able to pick up any new projects until mid November.

I do have one extra one thought that was the prototype that will be for sale at the MD Mod meet this weekend. If it doesn't go there, I'll throw it up here.

Oh sure that is true, than there is also the handwork factor, and custom factor, and what is this worth to buyers factor. Joe was trying to work on a pricing structure. Of course it has to be fair for us and worth his time. I am sure he will come up with just the right price!
