CAI Noise
I just installed a GM CAI and I'm interested in what it should sound like. When I start the car it sounds like a very loud dishwasher until the rev's come down. Make's the car sound like $^&*. It also makes a noise like a dog's bark everytime I get off the gas. I never heard these noises with the stock intake. Just wundering if this is normal.

I have a Fujita on my RL. It makes a tinny whistle and Icvan hear the BOV between shifts.
What you're describing sounds similar. Keep in mind that the stock air box has baffles designed to cut the noise. It also restricts airflow. To get the increased airflow that the aftermarket intakes provide, they will make more noise. You'll get used to it.

This sound is normal. With my CAI, I also get the different "sucking" sound at start up. The engine is running higher rpm at idle then, and in a moment the noise will go away. The engine does this with the stock box, but you just don't hear it.

I didn't like the noise my Fujita made so I got a louder exhaust. Ray

I too went with the GM CAI and cat-back exhaust. A summary of my experience: * Throatier sound (especially when downshifting when approaching a stop...kinda gurgles) * Less MPG...went from 26 average to 24.5 (not too bad...still better then my Hummer) * Horrible noise (as described above) when starting after a long period of inactivity (dealer said this was a necessary discomfort when having the CAI installed...something about pressure needing to build up for something or other) * Slight metal on metal sound when shifting during acceleration (dealer said this is normal for GM manual transmissions...apparently there was a 'bulletin' released regarding this) Some good...some bad...money WELL SPENT? Not 'well' spent...spent with a slight hint of regret. Luckily I rolled the parts and install into the cost of car at the time of purchase, so I really don't feel like I came out of pocket at all.

I would call it more of a cough sound, but a bark would work just as well, and yes, this is completely normal!
The start up noise is on a cold start only, and does go away in a few seconds. I personally like all the sounds my car makes. If you don't like the sound just remove the CAI and put the stock air box back on, problem solved. Some were not aware of the difference in the sound and volume the CAI will add, and ended up removing it, but most people learn to like it. I would suggest you give it awhile to soak in, and most likely you'll learn to love it!
