CANDY APPLE RED SKY - Mecca Reunion

Sky Fans, Just when you thought that the Sky could not be futher improved GM drops this bomb on us at the Mecca Reunion. Thats right the 2009 model new color is a Candy Apple Red color I believe they call Merlot. Seeing this vehicle was absolutely breathtaking. I am sure this will cause people that are on the fence to go over it. GM has done it again. You think people's jaws drop now, wait till this baby gets on the road in Aug. It will win cars shows hands down. Again thanks to GM for a wonderful event. I had so much fun with all the events. The SWE was a blast. I built 13 pairs of bumpers

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Fav color of ALL time for any car is Nissan's Cherry Red Pearl which sounds like this is going to be close too.

Sounds great except for the name. Merlot? What next: Puce? Burnt Umber? Are these crayons?

I really liked that color, but it's just another color for MM not to like....

..Maybe he will leave the bluestones alone now...looked for you..saw your Bluestone with Virgina plates in the parking lot though, only like 5 or 6 bluestones showed up...SteveSky67

Yeah, I was hanging mostly with the VA folks just about most of the time. Time got away from me and I forgot again when at Joe's Crab Shack!

I would have loved to see it in broad daylight. But, the rain kept it inside. I wanted to buy it on the spot. But, now I realize I have a collectors item as I don't think many Bluestones were sold. I am sure they will sell alot of Merlot's. I asked about that color when I first shopping for a Sky. They had the top down, so I don't know how a black top or tan top looks on it. but with out the top, its awesome color. You should start seeing them in the Aug time frame.

MM actually LOVED Merlot!

Not the same for that new BLUE that was next to it though... kinda a cross between a Superman Blue and something kinda nasty...

Spag I asked one of the engineers and he said that was not the new blue that will be replacing the midnight and the blue stone. He said that was another special edition color, The color name he mentioned sounded like, but I won't say for sure it is, the special blue that was on the first supercharged Corvette that was sold on Barrett Jackson that they said would not be reproduced on any other Corvette. The new blue is close to the midnight blue but with no metal flake.

The Red color was more of a candy apple BURGANDY than a regular red. They also showed us a highly metallic "Miata" blue color, very similar to the Miata Blue. THis will be a rearley ordered color. The Merlot will be a VERY POPULAR COLOR, I would bet the farm on that. They also introduced a color called Carbon Flash, which will be a special edition vehicle that comes with a strip down the center and a light battleship gray accented interior. That color is a very dark gray (almost black) with a TON of large metal flake.

I am telling you people that GM is watching this forum AND LISTENING TO YOU!!! Here is my a thread I did, which a lot of you voted in, of a bunch of new color ideas: What New Color Would You Choose??

I can tell you that the "Merlot" is VERY CLOSE to the look of #14 (which I called Metallic Candy Apple, but is more Burgandy) and the Carbon FLash is very close to the darker part of number 5 (Which I called Gun Metal)
Considering these were the 2 highest voted colors, coincidence?? I DO NOT THINK SO!!
