chamois VS microfiber

Hi,

I was just wondering what you guys prefer to clean your car?

Chamois or Microfiber?

Thanks!

I use the Chamois for washing and drying, the microfiber I use for polishing and everything else.

I prefer if my wife would clean it (Ya, right that'll never happen)

I would use microfiber.

For drying I use a very high quality chamois.

For detailing, polishing & seal removal I use micro fiber towels in different textures.

I also use a porter cable dual action polisher to basically shine it up and remove swirls and small imperfections. Removal of all residues I use a microfiber towel. (I have a ton of them)

Now that u understand the question u asked was incorrectly worded...go to Target...in the auto section...for 8 0r 9 dollars...there is a cloth in a plastic cylindrical container...it is called the ABSORBER....u will find it better than a chamois....I have found it better than anything on the market and several of us swear by it...u have nothing to lose but some lose change.

It does come in colors.

Hey man, I got one of those in red. It's still enclosed in its tube, brand new never used. It's just that I love chamois..old habit die hard I guess..

From here >> Pittards Dry-Soft Chamois

I usually just follow the instructions that came with it as far maintaining it. This is one of the best chamois I have ever used, extremely soft. Expensive IMHO. Eventually, it does 'dry out'. So I buy a new one every couple of years or when the need to replace is felt. So I basically rotate the old where I know there could be dirty spots, and use the newer one or new one where I know it won't get dirty.. So you'll see me out there with a pair of them usually.. an oldie & a newbie. BTW, this is where I get all my cleaning supplies basically..

I use microfiber.

Whatever you use, it is important to ensure it remains clear of dirt and debris. Microfiber is a two edged sword when it comes to debris. It will pick up small debris and bury it in the fiber, which keeps it away from finish. On the downside, if the debris size extends beyond the fiber elements it becomes a scratch fiber.

If you've done a good job washing you would think this would not be a problem. But if you wash in the open (like me), there are always things (a piece of leaf.. bug..etc.) that like to fall on the finish inbetween the wash and the dry.

To follow up with Bogies point, or heavens forbid, drop the chamois or towel on the ground..

I agree with Mike, for drying this is the best , much more absorbent than chamois and cleans up better to boot.
However I do follow up with Microfiber towels (Zwipes) after I get most of the water off with the Absorber.

I use two deep buckets when I clean, one for car wash, one for rinse and a microfiber wash mitt.
I clean my absorber in the same buckets after everything has settled to bottom before putting it away, and if you get a little mildew because of putting it in the tube wet just rinse in a little vinegar water and then clear water.

I have two high quality micro-suede chamois also but I prefer using the absorber because it's just that good.

P.S. you can also get them in Wally-Mart

These are the Z-wipes waffle-weave microfiber towels I use to dry.
If your a member you can get them online at Costco.com however I'm sure they are available elsewhere.

I also buy their in-store bulk pack of microfibers for general cleaning and use with detailer spray when on the road.
I wash them once for re-use on wheels and other non-painted surfaces and then toss them.

I can't even get her to clean her own car.

The California Duster is an excellent thing to keep in your trunk, well maybe your cars trunk.

A quick way to clean your car!

hell yea. these work the best. for some reason i cant convince myself to use microfiber. just running my fingers against it makes it feel rough. it feels like it scratches my skin haha.
