I do not like to replace a clutch with out the replacing the hydraulics. The reason why I say this is weak pedal could be why your clutch gave up.

What if the weak master cylinder caused the clutch disc failure?

I do not like to do one without the other.

Replacing the slave cylinder makes perfect sense, since the transmission has to be removed to do it.

I have never heard of a master cylinder problem causing a clutch disc to fail, and can't imagine what the failure mode would be, but I certainly haven't seen everything.

How would a master cylinder problem affect the clutch disc ?

Car is done here are the pictures of the clutch disc

Hi All.
Well I got my car back yesterday. Phil you did a great job!
Here are some pictures of the clutch disc. As you can see the rivets were sheared off. The one with my finger pointing to you can see the head is pulled up but it has not sheared off yet! The rest, if you look at the holes you can see they are off set. This allowed the friction material to move and break. I am sure it didn't help having rivets flying around the pressure plate either. The car drives nice and that jerking when you first take off that some of you have noted is gone as well. Because of this I hope it doesn't turn into a issue for some of you like I had with my clutch!!
Now to drive around and break the clutch in slow so it doesn't glaze up on me. The guys at Saturn of Mobile treating me very well!
