We built a handful of them at the plant. Everyone seemed to like it better than the silver. So I guess this would make a handful of cars, that have a rare factory feature.

I had mine painted midnight blue while still under warranty when a small "bubble" of corrosion started appearing along the top.. I like it better afterwards, hand down looks better..

Mine is a Solstice I had it Painted to match. When these Cars were Made it was easier in the production to have the windsheild frames on one line all the same color before it is on the Frame. " To each their Own "

Not to my taste, but I don't hate it. If it had come that way I would probably feel different about it. The silver may not be an ideal representation of brushed aluminum, but I like the look.

The fact that our windshield frames were not color matched to the body bugged my OCD a little at first. I've gotten used to it now and like it as a bit of an accent, and one of the things that defines a Kappa.
Yours doesn't look bad, but when I see it my brain does one of those "Wait a minute, that doesn't look right." I'm sure that if I had color matched mine right away it wouldn't strike me as odd as it does now, lol.

Sky_Pilot : I like the OE color as well. I "thought" it was silver to match the tulip and interior trim; especially when the top is down.
You have the right idea, but I suspect it was the other way around: The windshield frame is silver to emulate the classic British roadsters (remember that the Vauxhall Lightning was one of the design influences) and the tulip and gearshift surround are silver to coordinate with it.

Don't think they ever featured a Sky or Sol on Top Gear?

It may have been an excuse to make the look like old roadsters, but I think the real reason was to make them a common color. The chassis' & tubs and drivetrains were made on a common line. The body panels were painted separately, and then installed afterward. Would've made it a more costly process to have the windshield frames painted individually.

I have an 07 Redline Silver Pearl and the window surround has always been Silver Pearl. Were the R/Ls in this color all done that way?
